but we have 37 threads on PDK VS manual, lets not tarnish this one, as the GT4 is manual only, no one should even bring up PDK in this thread ;-)

1. Gears. GTGears sells shorter gears. Why not get a box from a wreck and have it rebuilt with shorter gears and proper ring and pinion then swap it in for your stock box, keeping it for resale. Used boxes are not expensive.

2. Jealousy. The U.S. will not get deliveries until late July into August.

This is the UK. most of us don't do mods. We are ok to moan about it though......

PS: sound advice.

Maybe the most stupid question of the thread so far but is it possible to drive through a regular tunnel car wash with the GT4 spoiler?
I know that automatic car washes are the devil for the paint but I intend to daily drive my car and sometimes just can't be bothered doing a hand wash.

Oh and to round the posting off... will using a tunnel car wash affect my residual values? laugh

But...they still aren't advising people whether they have a car or not. At least, that applies to my OPC. I was told last Wednesday I'd have a call on Thursday which drifted into an email on Friday which said "no decision yet!".

I'm number 4, another contributor is number 1 - or we were last week! Same applies to both of us.

You've still not heard? Have you received your letter confirming your deposit, informing you of a PEC invitation and that you will be contacted for a full spec and 10% deposit?

Well going to be looking at alternate options it seems... What was the final verdict on securing a European car with rhd?

My OPC just haven't made the decision yet and I'm not inclined to contact them again. I'm still hopeful....although may be wishful thinking!

I am not chasing my OPC, my guy told me I was very very near the top of the list (inference being first or second), he said that he wasn't going to be drawn further, but not to worry I'd get one of their first cars. So on that basis I am going to be patient, and wait for the call to top up my £5k to 10 percent, the spec done and order registered. My experience of this OPC is very positive, especially my point of contact in sales, so I am relatively relaxed in spite of everything I read here!

Firstly I never mentioned 'auto' because I never use it unless I am in city traffic. Paddle shifting is not auto! Secondly I disagree that the point of H&T is merely rev matching. When tootling why not brake then block change with right foot wholly engaged in selecting the revs for the road speed. If you need to show your high skill level ALL the time why not do the times crossword while your at it. Just as useless for smooth progress.
As I said I enjoy H&T when it is necessary.

Nope back at you, you can pick at the semantics all you want, but they both removed the need for a human to do more than they previously did and be "less involved".

The mechanisms of what they do might be different, the result is the same - you go from doing more to change gear to less. I understand that the manual gear change is the last bastion of involvement for you for a "proper drivers car" (Copyright everyone on PH smile ), but you can't seem to understand that it's a sliding scale of progression, it's not just analogue vs digital (synchromesh? 4/5/6/7 gears? Sequential? H-gate but clutch-less? F1 single clutch that requires finesse? F1 single clutch that doesn't? PDK? Full auto? etc etc) and are happy to arbitrarily draw a line in the sand (as is all our right) but then not get why at a certain point a manual no longer appeals to drivers who normally prefer a manual but are less "dedicated" than say yourself, even if it is in theory more analogue and involving because in reality it pisses them off. I'll take a bit less involving (and concentration enjoying the rest of the drive experience) but much less annoying any day of the week. People balked somewhat at the 991's 7 speed box and went PDK when they normally wouldn't have, others didn't. I've balked at the silly long gearing on the 981, you haven't. If the manual came with gearing that was 35% too short the other way (2nd to 45mph etc) you might finally balk at it too.

Jesus, give it a rest boys. Agree to disagree and move on!

Alternatively, set up yet another PDK vs Manual thread and scrap it out over there. :-)

using the bp wash matic 'premium' wash, I just about get away with an aerokitted turbo. there is no way I would take a GT car in there, it will cause damage everytime to the aero, even if it does not rip it clean off - imo.

never had a paint problem in 6 years of using the wash matic ones at bp.

don't know if taking the rear aero off is a quick and easy option in this scenario.
