Bloody Spyder Addiction!

'Spyder' only badge looks a bit like trying too hard.
Those who would care will just assume you want people not to think it is part of the boxster family, which reverses into being uncool.
I bought my car a couple of weeks ago, only has Spyder on the rear of mine. Those who would care will just assume you want people not to think it is part of the boxster family, which reverses into being uncool.
It will be coming off

I did consider leaving it bare after removing the original "Boxster Spyder" but then I think it needs something. Spyder on it's own just looks a whole lot better imo.
I agree, looks much better with "Spyder" only on rear.I was just being pedantic with the weight saving thing.
On a more serious note, I have wondered about removing the silly brake light bar on the boot. This might then fail an MOT or invalidate my Porsche warranty?

If you think you're getting a bit OCD with the rear badges, then think again - not only have I gone with the "Spyder" only rear badge, but I also noticed that with careful application of my fingernail, I could remove the Boxster word from the script on the interior trim panel above the glove box. Not only does this look better, and hide the fact that I drive a car that's only a Boxster in drag (
), the weight saving is crucial to my lap times to the paper shop and back. I was nearly tempted to do the same with the scripts on the door kick panels, but then the remaining "Spyder" words wouldn't line up neatly and that would do my head in ![banghead](/inc/images/banghead.gif)

Sorry, it is up there with people who add the silver 'sport' or 'turbo' badge after the model badge on their 1.2 astra cdti. Or M5 badges on a 520d. Or those who remove every badge identifying their car, and chuck on a made up make and model. Eg, Tuscana GT as seen on a Hyundai coupe locally. There I was wondering what this rare, unique custom made pagani rivalling sports car was. 0.02 seconds later this identity mystery was solved though and my thoughts about the owner was one of pity.
However the 3rd brake light bar is something I have thought about also. It is likely going to require holes being filled and the panel professionally painted, but I think it would improve the looks of the rear deck.
Or I might just leave it as it rolled out of Porsche, as I think their knowledge of how to make a sports car is greater than mine!

Removing the Boxster badge is nothing like adding a GT3 badge or RSGTi240Srturbo, or whatever, to a car that isn't.
By removing that badge you're not trying to make the car out to be something it's not - it IS a Spyder.
The bit of space under the rear spoiler is just too small for two words - it looks cluttered and overly fussy, just as the 991 is with P O R S C H E 911 Carrera S across its arse.
It seems to me more 991's have most of the badging removed, but its still a 911.

I'm very in touch with my feminine side and was wondering if anybody had removed the word "Spyder" from their badging and kept it as simple and honest "Boxster". I am sure that just a "Boxster" badge on the back would please me aesthetically and, equally, I could remove the word "Spyder" from the nearside dashboard trim thus serving to reduce confusion amongst passengers? ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
In the meantime, keep the high level brake lights - the reflections look very cool at night in your rear view mirror.![thumbup](/inc/images/thumbup.gif)
