You see now even you're acting like Porsche AG. 100% on colour change! Thats why I gave them 3 historic colours I thought maybe it helps! GT3 is porn my current fave car.
Come on , do tell, what three historic colours ?
That will ruin the surprise for all of you! I'm getting too old for forums hence a pic of my steed in her new war paint could perhaps be a good final post on PH before I sail off into sunset and start collecting my fantasy garage smile

I've had all these recommended too Slippy. I met the guys at PCO though and liked them. Agree if Porsche AG make a fuss we can shop around.

Well if the Blood Orange 993 Coupe Riviera painted, was anything to go by, they know they're onions.

Add Kevin O' Rourke at Moto Technique to your list too.

biggrin No, I'm just telling you that they're protective of Rubystone (and a bit like your engine warranty debacle, it meant getting ugly and ultimately legal with them (the factory) to get that 996 GT3 painted in Rubystone)

Which begs the question : Being as they tried to bend you over and shaft you over the engine warranty, why the allegiance to them ?? They'd have shafted you to the tune of what £30-40K plus ? If you hadn't stood your ground. You owe them nothing.

Your having to dance their tune because you're electing to have the car painted by Porsche AG's elected UK agent. Walk away from that scenario and you can paint it any colour you want !!

I appreciate you're busy and time is money, but there must be a numerous superb paintshops across the UK that could do a better job than Reading. What they're doing isn't rocket science, and with your "I'm willing to pay for the right/best job" attitude, I've no doubt you could find better.

Mark (can't remember his surname) Clowes who used to partner Colin at 9M has set up his own bodyshop. Now there's a man with attention to detail when it comes to paint, that very few can match ...

Edit to add Mark's surname, an image of one of his 993 Speedster conversions and his company's website link ... smile

Cheers Nathan noted. Oh and local to me M&A coachworks. The guy they have working out of Porsche Hatfield Steve? came directly to see me at home. "Let Porsche Reading quote and then we will quote...,'. I fail to grasp why he thinks anyone would go back if he's too busy to do the paperwork for a quote for a full glass out respray with colour change and also cheekily wants to see what his opponent is quoting? They must be very busy but good luck with that attitude getting reference type work. That 993 speedster in orange is iconic car 9m built. Credit to Mark.

I thought about calling the MD up then thought why should I help them. My father and his mates used to use that firm and swore by them for paintwork when I think they were in Highgate? Maybe gone down hill as most of the work they do is insurance companies at extortionate prices sending our premiums through the roof. I wouldn't send a Nissan Micra to them based on my last experience. What I find most odd is why waste petrol to come to my house and then try and get cute on the quote? I'd go ballistic if that guy worked for me. I like using local firms if possible but a few I met jeez really not for me. They seem a bit stretched around me M&A was pre CV19 so no excuses. I've been unhappy with my last job from outset was just nice about as wanted to try and work with ABT but lost confidence in their skill levels and their values.

Porsche Central Operations is a team within a team at OPC Reading. The painters like air cooled and work on them restoring them. Also only guys that Porsche AG authorise to work on CGT and 918! My kind of guys.

Im, I'm pretty sure I saw that car once at OPC Wilmslow (the owner was having a look round at the stock) and I remember thinking it looked ste again YMMV etc but didn't suit the GT2 at all for me.

I've seen it in the flesh cruising down the M6 S/Bound some years ago. We were in roadworks which had average speed cameras, so I got lots of time to study it from all angles in bright sunshine.

It looked bloody awful !!

As you said Toby, it just doesn't suit the GT2's outrageous shape and aero additions, it looked like a pimped up 997 Turbo.

White, Black, Silver and Guards red all work perfectly, but I'm afraid to say Ruby Red Metallic doesn't I.

Though I have to be honest, I think a 993 Turbo in Arena looks equally bad getmecoat

BMW Calypso red anyone ?

vomit

Ruby Red suits the Cayman R (albeit with the "wrong" wheels) :

But there are better colour choices for the R.

If I really did that I would have a pink car for sure as 9e like Rubystar. Kens negotiating it with Muriel who leads their VIP team. Lets hope they are not busy but in terms of scope I am definitely looking for quality rather than just a colour change after my last experience. So far very happy.
what more do they want youve done 300 plus V max your is a daily from new my book youve done more than enough for the Brands Image than someone "ive never heard off"

Thanks guys 9e tongue and cheek and they love Rubystar. I agree with Slippy its an opportunity to create a very special 911 turbo with a colour change though. Now its just the colour. I very much hope Porsche Central Operations @ Reading can do the colour change I am the first owner of the car after all and even asked the salesman for PTS Gulf Blue and he warned me off with delays in production, poor potential resale etc back in 2007.

The 997 turbo is a technical tour de force. It is not a simple car. There are no rattles in this 100k mile turbo on the interior and the main reason I want Porsche themselves to strip her and put her back together. Its basically remanufacturing the car if you're doing a colour change not for the faint hearted. Tuthills is another option for the strip and colour change if PCO won't do it. Autofarm very good too wink
will it be an engine / carpets / glass / suspension / interior out proper jobbie?

This is the one Porsche Central Operations did for another member on here. I have seen the car at JZM. Only respray I've seen that I rate. Wont even PPF mine after. Will just add another 100k or 200k miles. Not many people know that PCO even exist smile

Looks like they've eased off lately as Rubystone has been added to the stadnard PTS offerings now, you can even get it on a Taycan rofl

(which, I may add, looks absolutely bloody fantastic)

Not sure at the mo. I like the black interior and it looks like a 40k mile interior. I do like the folding buckets just getting in and out of them a chore. Want usability more for my kids than me actually they say they prefer the comfort seats in mine to SWMBO's 991 turbo with buckets. Maybe I just change the drivers seat to heated folding bucket smile
I DD with the folding buckets and they are fine, if you're packing a bit of timber you can just reverse in to them plonk your arse down then swing legs round. unless you're 6'3"+ this is quite easy.....getting out is a reverse of this. It is wise to have the Crazy Eddie side bolsters at the seat sides get lots of hammer. they weigh 17kg so that must be close to 40kg weight reduction compared to electric armchairs ?

The Recaro Sportster CS is a nice alternative, the Nurburgring edition is still available, nice bling with side impact airbag and 15kg, I would probably put these in if I wasn't fully satisfied with the stock reclining buckets.

I may be wrong, but I'd suggest that's Rubystar, rather than Rubystone.

On the basis of the quality I is looking for, there IS no other way.
It jacks the labour involved up massively (and the expense) but it makes the preparation easier and the end result far, far superior.
