I had a 992 GT3 and still have Taycan CT

However good the GT3 was, having a Taycan as a company car and being taxed 1% and 2% tax with no running costs and charging free at the office - it is a dream!

As a side note - sold the GT3 to WBAC a couple of months back for £180k, steel brakes and standard roof - great deal!

If I still had the car it would have lost about £30k in the last couple of months, Porsche at the time of selling would not buy it directly and only offered sale or return - looking to return me less than WBAC, if they achieved a sale price of around £205k

I think the car would still be on sale or return - and I would have lost a lot of money

It seems to me Porsche don’t actually hold a lot of second hand stock that they own and want to take about 20k out of every sale

And 120k for a base 992 2S is day light Robbery
I`d wager that all of the GT products that get returned after a few miles back to the dealer for resale at overs time and time again are all on SOR basis. All the profit for none of the risk and its not like they have to re warranty it or service it as its only done 100 miles - with 3 owners !!

SOR rates range between 5-10% which is a nice lump if the car fetches overs at £200k

The prices are in freefall currently so if you are in the market for a car then its just a waiting game. I posted on the GT3 thread that the PTS one in Scotland thats only been on for a couple of weeks has had a haircut of £5k already. You could easily negotiate more off if serious buyer which would take it close to list RRP impacting on the owner if they bought as an investment or to make a quick buck.

Well there must be a reason why Reading have agreed to refund the £300 ... possibly kindness but nobody would want to think of you as being a bad customer had you complained about not getting your full deposit back smile

I've started a thread for Great Service from my OPC ... for balance we need content ??

Chris I really dont know. As I said, I do not have any communication from them other than a couple of emails from the sales exec, who cannot say too much as its not his decision, to apologise for the delay. Nothing regards why a deduction was made. Nothing agreed before hand or since.

I messed them around on the sale by withdrawing and have apologised for that at the time. But it seems like this is revenge somehow to make me suffer a little bit for inconveniencing them. I dont know.

Reading have agreed as follows:

"For your experience Porsche would like to offer you a goodwill gesture of £300.00 for your recent experience".

But I still do not understand why as no one has picked up the phone or emailed me. I do not want to be a difficult customer and, again, hands up I messed them around. But this treatment is not good.

But the Reading treatment is good ... I'm confident there will have been conversations with Swindon ... and maybe you did change your mind, it is allowed and they could have kept you as a customer so worth a discussion if only to help the understanding ... to me your comments in this appear very measured ...

TBH im upset about it. Essentially I have been told dont come back to Swindon. Bear in mind I have a GT3 from them as one of my cars now, so I have some sort of track record.

But again, no one has picked up the phone or emailed me as to why its taken 18 days, forcing me to escalate, or emailed to explain the delay or the deduction. Nothing

Yes that is the only issue really is lack of common decency , to return calls , especially as you are clients . That is a serious no in any business .

+1.

These dealers must be aware of the market, but not proactive at all. Do they not understand what could, and probably will, be around the corner? Look at this thread. There are lots of cars on forecourts unsold. Surely they cant be that nonchalant with all customers?

It will be interesting to see how many posts there are to my Great Service topic.

I wonder for comparison if I should start another one for specialist dealers ? I've used a few for both sales and service and with one exception (which I discovered after the event and then found the service engineer in question was no longer there) I have had the most fantastic service.

So much so that I keep telling them how much they have enriched my 20 year journey since getting back into Porsche ... particularly the classics.

Would I have dared embark on this without that support ? Probably not ...

How low do we think these will go?

If I could get a Taycan 4S Sport Turismo with the upgraded battery for 80k I'd find it very hard to turn down. This would be ideal in a differnt colour and £10k cheaper - https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...

I hate clicking on a link thinking it's a 911, only to find it's a Taycan!

The way things are going, I'm wondering whether I should cancel my 992 GTS order and start to keep an eye out for a discounted Turbo. Although I have just been invited to the Silverstone track experience, so presume any deposit cancellation now would incur some charge for that.

As for dealers, I was so fed up with my local dealer, I moved to one 90 miles away. So not convenient at all, but the new OPC was excellent on the servicing side and I've stuck with them for the last four year, including ordering a new car with them earlier this year.

I'd say the communication on the sales side has been pretty hopeless - even when I paid the deposit, I had to chase them for confirmation that it had been received - but I'm experiencing this with other manufacturers too. Many of the people I talked to 3-4 years ago are no longer in their roles.

If you do cancel hope you get your money back!

Re GTS to Turbo, if its similar money its a no brainer.

Which dealer did you use that was good?

They've reduced it twice in 1 day, and knocked £10k off it since it listed in September.... further to fall me thinks

Out of interest, what would be a typical amount of new 911's available pre-covid?

Which in my experience is actually a good price. I have discussed SOR with two different OPCs and they have both been considerably above this. “prep costs, marketing costs, VAT burden” etc etc. Needless to say I have always politely declined.
