Well they had invested something ...
1. They probably supplied the car and then took their margin
2. They may have prepared it
3. They may have given it space in their showroom / car-pound / but did they insure it ?
4. They may have included it in their advertising and social media
5. And maybe £30k ish is the kind of margin they need to make to give it preference over selling one of their own cars ?
--- although on the other hand they won't be guaranteeing it and they will be offering a wider range of purchase options for their customers ...
--- and it may help them to corner the market and try to control secondhand prices ?
Particularly when a car is still under Porsche warranty (which many of them are) ... why does there appear to be so much reticence to offer the car privately ? It also appears that cash purchasers and those financing outside the OPC network pay significantly less in charges .... ??
No financial outlay , that sort of investment or lack of it.1. They probably supplied the car and then took their margin

But I think you knew that anyway…..

How low do we think these will go?
If I could get a Taycan 4S Sport Turismo with the upgraded battery for 80k I'd find it very hard to turn down. This would be ideal in a differnt colour and £10k cheaper - https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...
That sounds like a great deal but it’s worth 50k the second you drive it outside the showroom. And worth practically nothing in a few years time.If I could get a Taycan 4S Sport Turismo with the upgraded battery for 80k I'd find it very hard to turn down. They’re offering £10k deposit contributions on new ones. https://configurator.porsche.com/en-GB/model/Y1AFC...
Financial suicide these. Only make sense for business use
I came close to buying a turbo. Never usually get on insurance quote on anything before i buy but was warned before I bought a Taycan.

Your guess is as good as mine. Inter-dealership transport? If so, I saw the car at the dealership so am I paying for it to come there before I saw it or after I withdrew. Don't know.
Again, nothing from the dealership themselves, so difficult to answer.
Was the car you placed your deposit on already built and at another one of there dealerships? Again, nothing from the dealership themselves, so difficult to answer.
Or was it in a brand new car which was yet to be built?

Friends 718 GT4 is currently SoR at local OPC. Flat £10k fee.
Does that get sold as Porsche approved with the warranty etc?GT4RS said:

Was in their showroom. Second hand 2023 low milage.

If that’s the case it doesn’t make sense at all why they would charge you transportation costs when the car was already sat in their showroom. And still no contact at all.

I would be politely asking Reading to explain what is going on, maybe the opc has made a genuine mistake.

Yes it will do. They may even tack the 2 yr warranty on the end of the new car warranty. It's probably up for nearly £100k as it's so new so the % for SOR is between 5 & 10 like I suggestedThe bonus for the OPC is they have no skin in the game until it sells. If it doesn't , they give it back. All they gotta do is wash it and keep it looking pretty.
I spoke to the senior sales manager the day after I withdrew. Explained my situation, apologised for messing them around. Since that time I have sent a number of emails to the sales exec with probably a reply for every other email. Replies of the sort of "let me see what I can do" - again, sales exec doesnt make decisions on this so understand he cant commit. I have also left a number of phone messages, maybe 3, asking for someone to call me back. Nothing explaining this situation.
It is possible they are watching this and decided to make no contact so as not to provide ammunition. But regardless, it is upon the centre to contact me to explain both the delay in repayment (18 days after I withdrew) and why I was being charged for an aborted sale. I had not agreed to this at anytime. If I had been asked to make a payment, even though not legally obliged to as no agreement for anything had been made, I possibly would have as I feel I messed them around. However, I wasnt asked or notified and have no contact since. And no explanation as to why it took 18 days to part refund me.
Porsche HQ have offered to compensate me for the deduction, which is generous of them, so I do not feel aggrieved. But I cant help but feel this is arrogance on behalf of the dealer who either didnt care to return my monies or, possibly, deliberately took their time with a process that should take on average 3 days.
Why? Dont know. Result? Obvious message dont come back. Understood.

This is a Dick Lovett dealership isn't it ?
I had a similar lack of engagement with Cardiff which is also Dick Lovett ... but possibly with some justification ....
I had bought privately a 991.2 GT3 Clubsport which had been sold to the vendor by Dick Lovett. The build specification included passenger five point belts but when I went to collect the car the vendor did not have these, and said he never had and was quite willing to give me a letter to that effect. We looked back to the build spec ... and the extra belts were included but had clearly never been fitted. So with this information I contacted Porsche Cardiff and explained the problem, asking if they could supply the missing belts directly to myself since they had been included in the specification, and if not I asked if they could provide a set at a concessionary price to take account of this ? At the time I felt strongly enough to write directly to Peter Lovett with the question and offer and ... you guessed it, no reply.
How little would it have cost them to leave me with a very positive view at no cost to themselves ?? Just a little care ... is all it takes.

Yes it is. I also bought a car from Bolton and a year or so later went to Cardiff and asked for a trade in as was looking to get a new car off them. The used stock manager told me I had "F**cked them around" (words that were used) on the deal as I had bought out of centre and would reluctantly look into it. I never heard back so some weeks later went to swindon and bought another car there instead. I had a similar lack of engagement with Cardiff which is also Dick Lovett ... but possibly with some justification ....

It seems Dick Lovitt are nice to you until you have any problems then the real character comes out.
Im sure they wont miss my occasional purchase. Just a shame as a life long fan of the brand it is a real turnoff and unnecessary.
