I have been telling you guys for years how fantastic the 993 gt2 is,all the storys of the beast. Is not true, the journalist have just not lived with car.Probably scared them selfs ,if the truth be known, even peter morgans article on the yellow gt from maltons the other month was the normal paranoia!& crap
The 996 , does not come near it in performance/grip or for that matter values.
Looking forward to seeing your car JC,i will be at silverstone with my cup car.
Also at Brands on the 5th of august with easy track, never done the full circuit before.
Regards

Burzel - You're right, car is nowhere near as scary as people make out, just need to spend some time in one to get your head together.

It's less edgy on the limit than my 964rs clubsport!

Guys! Please don't spoil it for us Gt2 aspirants, we thrive on tales of the untameable beast at the top of the 993 food chain hoping that we will one day be worthy

CS- sorry to shatter your illusions!!

Just want to give an honest opinion on the car as does Burzel. It's not the evil monster some people suggest it is, although Vic's with 550 is a bit different!

Sure its a little more ,but i agree with Paul its NO MONSTER.........a GT PURELEY PURILE article abt 2 years ago by a German sounding journalist, unknown to me , was outrageous fire breathing garbage .........i ve just gone for new pads [pit stop! for next day at Silverstone] and driven it in rush hour fromSt Albans thru London to park in City........and had the aircon on !!The other end of the scal need to borrow need Mr Chesters goolies.................but is still predictable and far more understanding than later models ...........here here Paul

Guys,

I'll be there in a MKII speed yellow GT3 clubsport.

Excellent

Looking forward to seeing your car on track, after drooling over it at Solihull before you picked it up.

Received my copy of Circuit Driver's Silverstone DVD-Rom yesterday (excellent turnaround from ordering the day before, btw )...great stuff - thanks for the recce, Uncle Don.

Mark Hales is absolutely excellent but I'd have liked a little more info as to suggested braking points and likely gear selection.

For track positioning, however, I think a couple of days' more obsessive repeat viewing will have me spinning off at Luffield like a good 'un in double quick time!

Anyway, don't forget to do a quick sun dance this weekend...

DeR, track positioning is relatively easy on PCGB trackdays as they have cones set out for you to aim for, on the way into corners. Look for the apex or rumble strip on the way out.......oh! and don't forget slower cars that may be in between those two points.

.....but don't fixate on the cones.

The last time I had an instructor in car with me he said:

Will you stop staring at the bl00dy cones and just watch where the next corner is coming from

Nice couple of hours spent at the track. Very annoyed everywhere around the track was lockedup/off limits making spectating quite boring on the pit straight and that was it. Good to see a few of the regular crowd.

Saw:
Derestrictor
GregE240
JeremyC
Domster
Joel of RSJ Sportscars
Martin (early Brunters sessions attendee with a 996 tt X50)

Other PHers cars spotted:
Burzel in his 993 racing car.
993rsr's black 993 Gt2
Diver944's 944
MauriceC2S's 993 C2S
A certain 996 C4S with an A1 personalised numberplate I recognised.

The day was run on an open pitlane basis which I imagine will have been quite horrifying for any newbies on their first trackday.

Just went back and checked. you'll notice the edit of my post was 11.37 and your correction was posted at 11.38.

Very beautiful car. Has clubsport seen it yet?

DAZ

Edited to say a shame I didn't think to try and get a photo of your car parked up next to derestrictors.
