I`ve stayed out of this one till now, but IMHO the 993 RS is the best looking 911 ever. Classic air cooled shape and a well balanced spoilers front and rear are just right.
Check out the side view to see how the front splitters and enlarged duck-tail really work. Its a mid 90`s slant on the `72 RS. It needs to be in a light colour to show off the detail though...

I've never driven a 993RS, but I've heard they are simply the best Porsche ever.
I appreciate you're bound to be biased, but do you share that viewpoint?
I've only driven 964 C4 & 993RS so not really qualified to make that sort of call. I started track daying this year and I've never had so much fun - and I'm probably only driving it at 6/10ths! I've thought about GT3RS but it is difficult to contemplate selling a car that is too good for me, which I'm still learning to drive - which is also going up in value!
I just LOVE the look of all 993s!
I don't know if I'm biassed, as I've always loved their looks and THAT is what made me buy a 993TT. I could have gotten a 996.
Splitting between a 993TT, 993 RS or a standard 993, I would say the melted cheese rear of the 993TT is perhaps a bit weird looking, makes it look a bit like a notch back saloon in profile- the way it accomodates a huge intercooler. The rear hips aren't as sculpted as the earlier 964s. I Do think the X50 spoiler/wing kit as fitted to MOD500 car looks great and is an improvement on my standard affair.
I prefer the looks of the 80's 930 type 911s to the 964s IMHO, the beefy bumpers look durable and in this case I prefer the 930 Turbo or the supersport carrera, as I think the rear picnic tray suits the wide arches.
To me the 964 looks like an 80s 911 with a spoiler kit fitted over the bumpers....although there's no denying it is more true to the pure 911 look.
I think the 993s basic shape is a rare case where a successor is a purer shape (in this case purer shape does NOT equal "pure 911 look").
The over hang heavy 996 is much more modern looking then the 993, and will date far less quickly, but sometimes modern looking isn't always better.
I mean the 928 looked alot more modern then contemporary 911s and i think has dated LESS, but few would argue that it actually looks NICER/more characterful....

It's interesting that you say that.
I had a C2S turbo body, 18" turbo look alloys, etc.
Thought it looked modern until I parked it next to a facelift 996 and it looked really dated. Perhaps the 997 will change that.
Though designed as an evolution to the most recognisable sports car shape, I think that it was also intended to be the full stop design statement of that iconic shape. There were going to be no more 'real 911's' I suspect that this would have informed the designers brief when he was asked to modernise the shape. The reason it now looks dated next to 996+ is because we are witnessing the mid-stage process signalling the next phase in the making of a 'timeless classic', On it's own a classic because it embodies most people's perception of the essential 911 shape. Eventually it will be (barring special editions)'The Classic 911', why?, well size will have a lot to do with it, (getting smaller by the year) and something to do with the massive hairdryer in the rear...
in terms of looks, I think eventually it will become to the the '21st Century Porsches, what the Dino 246 is to Ferrari owners/fans. Small, (near)perfectly formed and made from metal by people who knew how to combine form and function with that elusive third essential element that makes good things great... presence.
