Am excited - tomorrow my dog and I will take the CLR on a cross country trip to go to Seefeld in Tirol (from Salzburg) - Covid test lined up for the morning and going the backroads so as to avoid Germany. First time I will drive it properly apart from picking it up (autobahn only and cold as f...) and a few shopping trips.

Richard will not be amused, but i put a normal battery in it to make sure it starts on the button (so thats 18kg added back - I am only 70kg though and my dog weighs 18.5 on a good day, so we are still less than most people 2 up - or so I keep telling myself to excuse the heresy...)
I will try to get some pics and post up some driving impressions.

Once i am back , the car will go in for a couple of minor remedial things and then another trip lined up for early June to go to the Wörthersee across the mountains in convoy with the RS, my brother's M Coupe and either the Scuderia or the FF to get some back to back driving impressions.

Must not forget to by a vignette at the petrol station tomorrow as i will be on the highway from time to time ....

Yes please.

Adding lightness to a 911 is something that interests me greatly.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes, and what the dog thinks of cross-country trips in a sports car. biggrin

Couple of quick random thoughts - first off I love the car, I think it is an exceptional development

I never owned a 911 with rear seats before and have to say they are really useful - my dog can sit in the back perfectly fine (bucket seat moved all the way forward so he has a little more space). He can even stick his head out the window from back there.
The car gives really nice feedback through the steering
I don’t know why people complain about the m96 engine - to me it feels like a great one - good mid range, decent power and sounds great (partly that is the trick exhaust though clearly)
The 996 interior is to my eyes one of the best ones - much prefer it to the one in the 997. Hardly any buttons, 2 stalks and a nice airy feel - esp with the Centre console delete)
The dimensions of the car feel very compact - it is so nice to drive a car that does not fill up the entire lane and you actually have options going through a turn
The car definitely feels light weight and picks up speed quite quickly. I drove it on the autobahn in February and you don’t feel like it is underpowered - obviously from 150 mph upwards it runs out of power at some point, but I hardly drive really fast anymore so this is perfectly fine
It took me a little while to get used to the throttle - for some reason it is more sensitive than my other cars and picks up a lot of revs right at the top of the travel - now that I am no longer worried about the car not starting again, I don’t have to drive like a tt anymore for the fear of stalling
The color scheme attracts a lot of attention - it looks a lot better and more cohesive in person than in pictures imo - I will leave it as is for now, but ideally would like to be a little more below the radar / less recognizable as the car is on german plates in Austria a lot
To me it feels quite old school to drive, but my points of reference are relatively modern cars - the Z3M Coupe being the oldest. It reminds me a bit of my 355
I don’t drive particularly fast on the road (do need my drivers license) so no idea how the car behaves on the limit. I’d be a bit worried about catching a slide with the slow steering rack and heavy(ish) steering though - lack of skill etc
I am actually quite happy that it is RHD so I hav my dominant hand on the steering wheel at all times
Unfortunately no pics as I was in a hurry yesterday but will try to get some on the way back
Plus hopefully some video next month with the other cars - did by a drone and do the license etc - so time to put that to use at some point ....
I will also try to then compare the driving experience, although I am probably not the best person to put that into words
Will add more thoughts when I have time

The dog was in my colossal car crash in 2015 - he fell out of the car and was hanging outside the door and as opposed to me he was not unconscious during our flight ... so it is safe to say he thinks very little of car trips nowadays and only comes along when I absolutely have to take him.
He has ridden from Austria to London a few times and from Austria to Edinburgh in the GT2 once, so he has accepted his fate to a degree...

He probably also got a face full of airbag prior to being ejected from the car - so that must have been fun too ....

He must be barking mad to get back in a car with you, especially on the twisting when it starts wagging its tail wink You should have bought a Rover hehe

Well that’s the rough one about being a dog - you can pull away and make very clear you don’t want to come along .... you still have to sometimes though
At least he does not have to go into the Scuderia anymore - given I get a headache in it, I am pretty sure it must have been an absolute nightmare for him. Why people want to make them louder is beyond me

I'd love to join you mate, it would be fantastic. I have now bought the place in Spain though so things are manic just now with sorting out everything for the move. I sold the Spyder, but still have the Alfa and Lotus. I also need to find new homes for them ASAP. I then also need to sort out renting of my house in Germany... The plan is to move at the end of May/early June. If this gets held up for whatever reason, I'll be harassing you to tag along don't you worry wink

Too bad, but understandable
I saw you reduced the price on the Spyder and thought at that level it is a steal.... probably not a better one around. Did somebody from the UK buy it or from Germany? Was so tempted, but only so much money to go around ....
I am sure I will at some point come down to Spain - all that EU money built some great roads there smile

UK buyer and you are right mate, it was a steal. Keep an eye out in the usual places for the Alfa, you may find it is the bargain of the century and too much to resist wink Should be listed tonight with a bit of luck.

You have no excuse to not make your way over to Spain once all this corona bks is over wink I can't drink all the Rioja myself.

Don’t tempt me ... I can’t afford more cars but I am sure somebody will get an exceptional toy
And I will come to Spain - on my road trip list anyway
