Despite my 2001 only having 25k on it (and being nicely loaded), I found out that it is acually worthless because it doesn't have Satnav.

This shows the short sightedness of people and their inability to think outside the box. The Porsche satnav system is not that good anyway, especially given it costs about £1800 these days. The sensible buyer would ignore the fact that any car they are looking at may not have satnav and then buy their own portable unit which they could use in any car they happen to be driving. If you are silly enough to rely on "fashion" to guide you as to what you need to have in order to consider buying a car you are going to miss out on some excellent buys if only you could think for yourself.

And that is exactly how the dealer would position it!

Remember the 2 facts of the supercar trade!

1) When you are buying from a dealer the car you want is always in massive demand, will be difficult to get hold of quickly and will be easy to sell on for very little loss.

2) When you are selling to a dealer the car you have no one wants, is difficult to move on because there are so many about and is worth a lot less than you thought becuase of "insert ANYTHING here"

Decided I am keeping it for at least another year. Its too good to sell for silly money.

Just extended the warranty, just about to buy new boots, nothing decent about for the selling price, let alone the price that dealers are offering for it.

The dealer wanted to retail it for substantially below its value. That's a good plan for shifting cars quickly, but not good for the quality of stock he will hold. People who will take up the offer are desperate to sell (can happen to anyone) or have sh*t to sell.

I am in neither camp.

I totally agree. I wanted to change this year, but insulting trade in offers and resulting huge cost to change means I am sticking with what I have - and actually I have come to realise how much I love it and that changing won't really give me anything more, other than vanity for a few days!! Also, I know that my car has been properly looked after so there's no risk of buying a duff one and regretting it....

It will cost me less than a third of the cost to change for me to add GT3 monoblock wheels, a sports exhaust, GT3 seats and a belting hifi and a Zymol detail session - it will feel like a new car then anyway!!

No brainer really.

Exactly, swapping cars is where the most money is lost, especially if dealers are involved... Such "upgrades" make only sense to me in case the new car is massively different to the old one. Else I don't feel it's worth the cost. Might consider adding a PSE to mine, though...

The GT3 wheels can be bought for circa £1800 inc tyres from various sources in 911 world. They would probably also be able to source you some GT3 seats and bodykit

Thanks - it's the one piece wheels I want - and no bodykit.
