I just love 965 Turbo 2's, and I do not doubt that this is a good one.
I have money locked up in my new business at the moment ( just gone self employed) but at any other time I would jump at this car for 23k.
It really is top value. Henry F sold one for more than 27k a few months back, and a 3.6 was sold for more than 30K I believe.
The Ninemeister will also tell you that this particular 965 model is also especially tuneable - so 400 hp plus will not be hard to find.
If you have the means ( and assuming the car checks out as well as I suspect it will ) then someone out there BUY IT !

Topstuff - I have also seen far cheaper Turbo 2s pass through Henry's mitts, including 3.3s barely above 20k and 3.6s in the mid 20s. 23k is a good price, but remember that spin can go both ways
Pesty - if you are serious about a Turbo 2, don't let 2k stand in your way. Get an overdraft or a credit card or something for the rest. Or haggle with mr topcat for a few hundred of if he throws in some zymol and the murray mints.
The difference between a good T2 and a bad T2 is MANY TIMES more than 2k. If you cannot afford the extra 2k now, how can you afford the 6k engine rebuild that may be needed if you buy the wrong one? Demolition Dan found out that cheap turbos come at a cost. I would be looking for the MOST EXPENSIVE T2 I could find, not the cheapest, as they can be more troublesome and more expensive to run than other Porsches in that price range. A dog will kick you out of your home and you'lll be begging for space in its kennel.
Not having a go at your finances, but the last car I bought the cheapest example of was an 8k Lotus Carlton that cost me 7k putting right.
You will need a decent 2k a year to look after your 965 properly, excluding tax, petrol, MOT and insurance. If this is daunting, get a 993 Carrera, a 964 or even better, a post 1989 3.2 which will be cheap as chips to run comparitively.

I see that the winning eBay bid went to a 'cc topcat' of Devon - any relation or just coincidence ?
The pantomime season is clearly in full swing!
So what now TC ? clearly you could not part with the car, particularly as you have not found a replacement.
Keep it tune it and frighten yourself...you know it makes sense!
soory but IMO you've wasted everbodies time setting a reserve price at £23k and not selling it when it went over your reserve. It also contravenes eBay rules to manipulate an auction like that and you are liable to get your self some negative feeback in your profile for reneging on the auction. You will aslo get a bill from Bay as they will consider the auction as won.
It would have been cheaper for you to place an ad in Exchange and Mart under 'hold til sold '

Well TC, I got to hand it to you having the balls to re-list on eBay so soon after your first auction was 'won' by yourself.
I guess you are gonna have to come clean when you start getting the emails from some of the folks who bidded for the car first time round asking you why the earlier auction fell through !!!
Good luck and hope you get the price you want...I'm guessing now , but reckon you've pitched your reserve thsi time at £23.75k as per your ad in the PH classified ?...anyway will be watching with interest to see how the auction turns out (but I wont be bidding... )

Glad he didn't sell it... wouldn't have been able to stop him crying... The boy is in love with his car and really doesn't want to sell it, that's until i think he drives the 993 twin turbo i think that i will have to be the on his shoulder
The way you two have been working your double act on a ebay & public forums, i would hope any prosective sellers of 993TT would be more than cautious of any games they may get involved in.

good job I saved it onto my hard disk then
IMHO it was dishonest to say the least
I think that is shown by the lack of bids being shown against the re auction of the car on E-bay.
If a car is re auctioned a day after a sensible bid was received, surely it gives the impression that the car was not all it was made out to be ???

Agreed - bidders who lost out in the 1st auction will now question the car's provinance after the 'deal' fell through so quickly. However it was pretty obvious to to anyone watching the auction that the winning bid was an 'inside'job. IMO the car will now struggle to get a higher bid than the previous reserve of £23k unless some new bidders come in.
A better tactic for the 1st auction would have been to put in a much higher reserve price encouraging serious bidders to bid the price up - at least until they know what the reserve is - even if the reserve is not met ,you can still contact the highest bidder by email to see if a deal can be done.
