in a few days. I'll doubt I will be able to tell if the chassis is better that another car though on that 30mph bit ;-)

I'll leave that judgement to when I get to drive it on a UK B road at the speeds we go and play at ie above 2nd gear :-)

I also want to know what extra fun would be had !

!I despise the electric hand brake in the GT4 - would have been more fun with a manual hand brake as well!

As you own a Cayman R was really interested to hear what it was like VS the R esp regarding the steering feel etc, again I would have thought any Chassis comment was vs the R you own.

You do get a sense of the gearing on the rear track where they demonstrate launch control. You can take it to maximum revs in 2 and into 3/4 but you run out of road too quickly. I agree that you need some decent B road on a Sunday morning before the world gets up to draw any conclusions.

Brakes I think are better on the GT4 - rotors on the R look a bit weedy and lost in the 19's by comparison.

I can't make any final comments on chassis - I need to do a back to back comparison but I would be surprised if you were anything but impressed.

Probably worth commenting on seats, I know there has been much deliberation. I'm a shade under 6ft and I found the new buckets very comfortable. I have the folding buckets in the R and I have broad shoulders so appreciated the fact that the new seats don't narrow at the top. Imagine they'll be more comfortable on longer trips. Good to have height adjustment (if anyone else drives the car) although I am fortunate in finding the R's position perfect so I don't think the addition of a few electric motors really makes a difference for me.

I drove up in the dog car (Tiguan 2.0) and it's just about the gold standard in numb disconnection so anything feels better after that. I think the R is still better from a feel perspective on the steering - the GT4 electric steering felt good and certainly better than the GTS I drove most recently but doesn't have as weighty a feel. Again, need to do a back to back compare.

The time will be over all too quickly so just enjoy it.

Booked mine today earliest date 6th November!
I'm there the same day too! Tho I had hoped for the next week or two rather than November!
I had booked Friday 30th Oct but I cancelled it today and changed to Monday 2nd Nov - so the 9am session on the 30th might be available now if that's good to anyone?

Good idea! Should be able to meet up for lunch - I'll be the one wearing the biggest grin biggrin
I had hoped to do this before deciding build-spec, however I may well have my GT4 before this day....

Tried that after my OPC suggested that and they said couldn't do anything till after order came through confirmed. I have a factory code for over a month or so now... Maybe I'll ring them again tomorrow..

I think one is going to have to wait for non legal speeds on UK B roads to find out how good the GT4 chassis is imo.
Today I came across an empty flowing B road with slight surface undulations and even at running-in throttle and conservative cornering because I am on tour with the other half the car was brilliant. The lateral and vertical loadings through the third and fourth gear bends really brought the chassis alive. All too soon it rained and I found out that giving it some welly in a slippery hairpin you can get quite an angle even with the nannies on.

Now that I'm in my second 500km I've upped my rev limit from 3.5 to 4 at which point it really starts ramping up and with the windows down the sound is ferocious! The gear change is perfect - so short and precise with just the right weight. It's hard to be sure without using more revs but the gearing doesn't seem too long to me. 3,000 in top gives 120 km/h (75 mph). Don't think I'd want it any lower for cruising. I'm not noticing the gearbox whine much anymore except at 155 km/h where it develops a resonance under load.

Discovered that the storage compartment in each side with a roller lid where the roof struts hinge from in a Boxster is perfect for a bottle of wine. Excellent.

When I do mine I might ask them to raise the front a few mm and increase the rear wing angle to increase overall grip ..... thoughts? ;-)
Just raising the front and not the back will reduce front downforce. Increasing the wing angle will increase rear downforce, adding to the imbalance and leading to high speed understeer.

I don't think the front clearance is much of a problem if you're careful. Even when I have scraped it's only roughed up the underside of the front lip, which you don't see from the front. The whole front splitter (painted and black) flexes up instead of folding under.

Does anyone know if we will be asked how we would like it set up on delivery or will it come in low drag and middle of three roll bar settings?
I'm pretty sure front and rear bars come in the middle setting. The wing is in the low setting and should only be raised if the bungs in the front diffusers are removed to balance it. You don't get asked how you want it (or which tyres you want).

Drove the GT4 at the Gold Track Silverstone GP event today. Initially was a little disappointed as the car was blighted with a lot of understeer, the excellent guys from The Circuit Club kindly forsook their Exige V6 cup's for a few minutes and moved my rear anti roll bar to it stiffest position, which turned the car into something very fabulous ! I can't get over how nice it feels, beautifully balanced, easy to hold in a minute drift just on the edge of adhesion, and very fast. Passed a number of 991 GT3's which were probably not being driven to their real potential. More exciting for me was the ability to keep a race Exige V6 Cup ( with a sequential box ) very honest indeed. The Exige is slightly faster but we were pretty neck and neck for several laps, and that car is a purpose built racing car . Very happy, the day ended with a rear puncture, which is going to be a bit of a problem as their are no tyres available in the UK at this time, but Porsche Centre Silverstone and my local Porsche Service Centre Brooklands are on the case, have to drive back to Silverstone tomorrow with Discovery and trailer to recover the car. But its so good on track I'm still smiling !
Do you think the more aggressive setup will be good for road use as well? May have to get mine sorted ASAP

The point with adjustment is you set it up how you like to drive.

look at how many R and Spyder owners drive 100% stock cars and are 100% happy, while to me they need work for how I like to drive them.

My Gt4 is arriving November/December.

Do you think its better to do the driving experience at silverstone before my GT4 arrives?

Hi All

Been reading this thread for sometime now (probably shouldnt be in hindsight)! as i am well and truly gutted at missing the boat for this great car, been pestering my local dealer and a couple of larger ones, you now how it goes "hi, please dont laugh is there any chance of a GT4"? it goes quiet as there pissing themselves "not at the moment sir , but we can take your details"

Had a good nosey round the yellow one at silverstone last week, looks great cant believe it was specd with no air con on it, apparently a lady had to stop driving it the other week because it got so hot!!

So anyway i am now putting my 993 up for sale as i just dont use it, not in anticipation of finding a GT4 i might add, i may have to have a clear out and go for a 991 GT3 as there seems plenty about, however i know other people have posted and il get in the queue if one of you chaps doesnt want theres for whatever reason please give me as shout .

BTW Hope you all enjoy!!!

Cheers Lee

Tks Demon.

Was just talking to Apolo from here who had a good drive in one over the weekend. Says in the standard settings its perfect with lots of feedback but as you say, its personal choice.

Always nice to have a car you can play with too
