-4% mainly due to China, percentages are up in Europe, so depends what you're focusing on !
They "sold" 500 taycans in the UK sat in fields..... when i drove past the Bristol estuary last week, I've never seen so many cars. SV_WDC said:
Chris Cooper was explaining on Collecting Cars podcast that when he sold his Taycan back he still had access to the car via MyPorsche app & could see that for 9 or so months it sat stationary. Every so often he'd press the button to flash the lights/sound the horn
Did he "Ask the boys" though?ImbackYo said:

so true! Every answer.
Makes me want to pop my ear drums. They even edited it out in one of the episodes in December, made me chuckle. As he was about to trot out that some bloody line it cut off, twice! lol. I was beginning to think it was a wind up but on occasion you can see the dismay on Harris' face.Very odd.

North America down by almost as much -23% vs -24% in China, in fact the UK held up better at -20%. Youforreal. said:

Is it only exhaust noise? What about handling of the car which the modern cars are much better than their predecessors. Sometimes, the exhaust noise is a source of distraction when driving enthusiastically even on roads.
Handling is subjective. The 992 I drove which was an early Carrera S felt more GT car than Sports car to me…we’re all different but I found it a bit dull. I’d also say that some of the cabin materials in all the current cars are a step down from the previous cars.
My 50 year old 911 won’t be anywhere near as quick as a 992 Carrera but I can tell you it’ll put a much bigger smile on your face on the road.

At the end of a day a 911 (and really any Porsche) is a discretionary purchase. 992’s launched about a year pre covid and were not selling well…plenty new available at OPC’s. Clearly the world went car mad during Covid with lack of supply and the “fk it” mentality to enjoying life.
Maybe the lack of demand is not just about finance and the lunatic RRP’s !
Whatever the reason sales have slowed dramatically and there are now close to 500 992’s sat at OPC’s which is probably more of an issue as a % of sales than the close 1000 Taycan’s they had before Xmas.

I’m honestly not surprised sales are down. I’m a serial browser (997GTS man not going anywhere!), but if you were going to drop £125k on 992 GTS there’s a whole host of pretty exotic lightly used stuff in range, and plenty of Astons, McLarens, Ferraris and Bentleys and others for not much more than half that, and with less built in depreciation. Suspect many who are not serial Pork buyers are just not seeing value any more relative to the competition.

Agreed, same price as approved used McL 720s and 992 Turbo/S which are all on different planets performance-wiseSV_WDC said:

They "sold" 500 taycans in the UK sat in fields..... when i drove past the Bristol estuary last week, I've never seen so many cars. Hi all,
a lurker here, I've been to Porsche dealer today. do you know if they are giving any discounts on brand new 911's sat on the forecourt? or 911s that you can spec and order?
i was surprised they said i could be in a brand new order by June?! my last 911 ordered in 2021 took 14 months to arrive, and i sold that because i was concerned about the economy in general.
interested to know discounts people have received.
Thanks

So they have literally no order book for whichever model you’ve enquired about as that’s pretty much as quick as you can order, get it built and shipped. a lurker here, I've been to Porsche dealer today. do you know if they are giving any discounts on brand new 911's sat on the forecourt? or 911s that you can spec and order?

Regarding discount you’ll get a lot more off a physical car without a doubt. Try a purple of other OPC’s and see what availability they have for a new car…once you know that go and sit in fron of he sales exec with your credit card and tell him you want to do a deal. Be prepared to walk out…

Not to be pedantic but do Porsche use Portbury for import? I’d assumed maybe incorrectly they have been fully absorbed into VAG for shipping/import so would come in via Sherness mostly.Portbury I thought was Renault, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota and Ford vans. Don’t get me wrong the yards do look absolutely stuffed full of cars and vans.

They seem to have sorted out most of the models just the 911 pilling up, the German dealers are sat on 1900 new cars presently, despite a stonking Q1 so it's not just a UK issue.
I think all the Taycan’s are pre-registered sat in a field somewhere and now probably “owned” by Porsche GB. 20% plus of sales this year have to be EV’s or it is a £15k fine per car…they don’t really have a choice but to register cars.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
