My 10k is staying put for the RS, otherwise I'll get the GT3 now, then wish I had gone for the RS as and when that comes out.

Dealer has told me its September too for the RS - just got to decide between it and the F430 I'm in at the moment.

Doubt that the RS is coming that soon, that would be just a few months after the GT3. Think about the 996 GT3 and the RS.

Yes. I have been given August build slot for September delivery. But my dealer thinks I might be able to get it already in August. I think I might be better off since I am ordering my car in Sweden?

Just going by what my dealer said. Have to say I'm a touch surprised. I will give him a call later to double check.

The only time pressure for the RS is FIA homologation for '07 racing. Look for late Oct, early Nov.

I still reckon that a MkII GT3 is the bargain of the century.

Eat you hearts out !

Late 996 GT3's have 400 bhp plus and less weight.

No electronic magicary --- just ab fab mechanicals --- and bucket seats for free !

Have checked with my dealer AND v. reliable factory contact - very first UK GT3s will be Aug. build but Sept. delivery. Also says RS will be very close behind - so close dealers are keeping quiet in case GT3 orderers try to swap to RS. I ordered both long ago - it should be easy to unload the GT3 if the RS arrives too close to it. Only way to - maybe - get GT3 into UK just that bit earlier would be factory collection which gains you about ten days. If you fancy paying Porsche to do their deliveries for them that is!

On a separate note... GP White w. Carrera lettering is a party frock that only really works on a '73 2.7 RS. There should be color options on the RS versions too. That said, I'd still stick to my base GT3. I LOVE the idea of everyday useability in such a lovely performance car.

I know exactly what you are saying - the standard GT3 (laugh) is probably the sensible car to get, but the RS is the 'special one'. What colour other than white should I get the RS?

If they do Viper Green or Blood Orange I would go for one of those. Or Gulf Blue. Actually, if I was spending that much money on a new 997 GT3 RS I would consider a custom colour to make sure I gt exactly what I want.

Having said that, the black car looks good in the Chris Harris 4Car article.

Will getting it in a funky orange colour put anybody off buying it in a couple of years?

Not an RS, no. I know Glenn McMenamin is ordering the RS in Blood Orange. Loud colours will suit the RS. The protoype photographed at the ring recently looked bleck, but it seemed to be orange under the black film/tape covering it, so my guess is that the press car in the launch photos will be orange.

Blut Orange was always Butzi Porsche's favourite colour for the 911 - and he should know - he designed it.

I'm with you. To have a car with these sort of abilities AND BE ABLE TO USE IT EVERY DAY AND PUT DECENT MILES ON IT is surely one of the things Porsche have always been about. Leave the limited mileage, 'sunny days only' stuff to Ferraris etc. I'm looking forward to drives to the shops as well as over to - and round - the 'Ring. Wish you guys would stop discussing colours - every time I tell myself I'm having white someone comes up with another brill. suggestion!

saw a picture of one in slate grey this week but it had lost all the real 'specialness' that white somehow confers.yellow looked good but it's white for me + clubsport interior.
