ill go to pistonfest if y'all are, its just up the orad from me. be good to meet you all. well, most of you
It will be worth it, and I'm sure you can get a better rate than Barclays!
Hopefully see you on a trackday soon!
It's not always down to the "ideal conditions" speed of the car.
Some who fancy a little fun can be very "committed" --- I guess only too committed if it all goes pear shaped.
And some very fast cars can be extraordinarily nervous when used outside of their "set-up" territory
Hence PASM is trying to offer broader optimisation at the flick of a switch --- I'm just not so sure if it works. But, I haven't tried it myself so ... it's a vicarious view from the mags.

If the snobbiness wasn't intended, then no worries - but that 'hierarchy' comment sounded crass.
When I was a teenager in a shabby tweaked mk2 Golf GTI I always got a bit too close to cars that I loved, firstly to look at them, and secondly (hopefully) to spur the owner on to give it some welly (I'd wind my windows down to listen). Often the (older) owner would sneer and cruise imperiously on, however some more enthusiastic owners would nail it. I'd always give the thumbs up when (if) I finally caught up!
Competitive racing on the public road is pretty silly - in most cases people 'having a go' either want to see your car perform, or want to see how their car measures up in comparison. Only the smallest minority of fools actually cruise around intentionally trying to pick races or fights with other cars. The exceptions I can think of are generally the street-sleeper types who get a kick out of blowing away supposedly faster cars with their wolf-in-sheeps-clothing specials, but there aren't many *real* sleepers out there, most modded cars are done to visually impress...
It is to be expected when owning an enthusiast's car that other enthusiasts will appreciate it....

lol when i get knobs in there nice new C4S 10" from my rear bumper I just change down a gear and pull away.
its always nice to out drag a new 911 and watch there upper classs rich faces drop like a stone.
its strange why the people who drive 911's think there the best thing going.
Eh?
Take the chip off your shoulder - assuming you're talking about your CSL, perhaps the 911 driver wants to hear the superb engine note as you accelerate all the way to the red line. The CSL has a marvellous engine esp. when the trick induction is turned on. There are plenty of cars faster than my 911 and, yes, I still like to see and hear faster cars used as they were intended.
There are plenty of enthusiasts in 911s, they aren't all 'upper classs (sic) rich' Must be a troll, given that everyone here is pretty much by definition a proper enthusiast. [reminder]don't feed the trolls...[/reminder]
