Lord knows what will happen to residuals if a 3.8 facelift model emerges in a couple of years!
The 997 GT3 RS Mark II?

I like that... you've placed yourself into the mind of a Porsche marketing exec and tapped into that creative vein they so expertly utilise

I was told by Porsche Reading the order book for late 2006/2007 997 RS's was closed after 2 weeks from the 997 GT3 launch at Thruxton they had 50 £10K deposits & were now only taking orders for 2008 which would be another 50 cars,,,

I was asked yet again yesterday by my OPC whether I wanted an RS.When the model was announced they claimed it was going to be very limited and that demand would far outstrip supply etc etc but with slots still very definitely on offer and nobody seemingly able to provide definitive numbers,I'm still a cynic!I think they'll build as many as they can sell...

As long as it is a couple of years I really don't see the prob. If you buy a new Porsche - or any new car - you surely realise that a newer improved version is always just round the corner and if you let that stop your purchase you'd never buy a car - particularly a Porsche - at all! I'm getting one of the first 997GT3s and I'm sure that on the day I take delivery of my shiney new toy the next version will be a lot more than just a twinkle in Porsches eye and as long as they don't release it too soon I accept and look forward to that. Said it before I know but while I appreciate that none of us like to loose money why do we bang on about residuals and then go out and happily spend a fortune on, say, a suit, plasma tv, stereo, furniture or what have you, all of which are pretty much valueless the moment we take delivery. Just buy and enjoy!

Thats funny, because that's not what Porsche GB said at the presentation which was about 2 weeks after Thruxton! I'm inclined to think Reading sales may have been looking to close on a deal... I keep being asked if I want an RS too...

Can get a late '96/early '97 but I'm in two minds - can't really justify the extra over a regular GT3. Anyone know where the money has gone?
