Boys, dont forget the cgt is standard, and untinkered with.
Put the same effort and money into a carrera gt as some of the tuners have to 911,no contest.
I believe there is a twin turbo cgt about to be let loose,240mph+.
I wonder which engine you could develop more.

Yes read that; 9FF twin turbo conversion 750 bhp!! did not mention price though.
However, buy March, I reckon there will be a few 911 Rufs with similar power.hehe

The silver sub 200 car has sold ,last price i saw for the car was 189!Its not high miles realy, can only be a good buy at this price. Some one has chopped his lambo in for it.
Just goes to show what will happen to your cgt when you use it though, now how much will that be per mile.
It will be interesting to see what happens this winter with most cars falling out of warranty etc
I am still resisting buying one yet, lots for sale again.German opc are buying cars back from the usa and now trying to sell at full list, once converted back to euro spec.
Not sure which car now loses the most money, the kettles or the cgt.
At least the CGT is a special car unlike the late porsches.

So JWB, you say there's a big difference between one thats done 3,000 miles and 23,000 miles. Firstly that clearly has to depend on how that mileage was done, the 3,000 mile car could have done it all on track (as per many GT3RSs) whereas the 23,000 miler could be all motorway miles.

Or are you saying that the car has deteriorated substantially over the additional 20,000 miles, I doubt it and if you are thats a huge negative for all CGTs. If not it simply means that the purchaser of the higher mileage car has bought far further down the depreciation curve and has much less to lose, since as they get older the values tend to get closer for mileage differences.

Provided there were no 'stories' to the car I'd buy the high-miler much quicker than the low miler, there's less to lose and you can use it without worrying about the mileage.

Guy

PS Not that I want one as it's too slow anyway (although they sound great).

Guy,

I'd take it a step further and say that it's not just a matter of whether the mileage was on a circuit or on the motorway, or at low or high speeds, but also and most important whether the guy who drove those miles had a clue about what was he was doing.

There are some people who shift gears so nicely that they wouldn't put a nick on a dog or glaze the clutch in 25,000 circuit miles, whilst others would seriously damage a car in a few hundred miles of pootling around their village.
Already PCGB has had to replace clutches on cars that had fewer than 500 miles on them.
I think that the stigma that attaches to additional miles relates to the fact that, the greater the miles, the more chances there are for someone to harm the car. The increased wear-and-tear factor is secondary.

You are right, though. The CGT is simply too damn slow.

In a magazine interview Jay Leno who also owns a CGT said that becasue the clutch was made out of carbon you could do 50 burnouts and it would still be fine. So which is it?

Never mind the cr*p. A 20+K mile CGT for £180K is a steal. They will go a little lower as time elapses and the miles rack up.

IMHO, there is no question about the following:

1) Anyone who buys a nearly new CGT with hardly any miles on for £330K is very dim indeed.

2) A Carrera GT for £180K or less is fabulous value for money.

If I end up doing well, I shall have one.

I even told the GF this tonight!

By profession, Jay Leno is a comedian.

I don't know the exact context in which he would have said this. I suspect that he would have heard this notion from an OPC salesman, and we all know that the quality of their information makes the "Dodgy Dossier" seem like a document of unimpeachable scientific probity.
It may have originated with the thinking that the PCCBs will last forever (laugh), the clutch is made from the same stuff (although it isn't), therefore the clutch will last forever too. Not.

If you abuse the clutch in these cars, it will go quickly.
If you don't believe me, talk to the lads in Reading, who have replaced many of them.

The clutch works beautifully, but indestructible it isn't.

Slightly off topic, but flemke do you an email address I can contact you on? Managed to book a trip to the ring finally and wanted to check if you were about to potentially take you up on your offer earlier this year. I can be emailed via pistonheads (your profile appears to be set not to receive emails).

Cheers,

Dan

Sorry. I wasn't trying to be rude.

As big Mercs are to sports cars as Madonna is to people who can actually sing, I do my best to ignore both the bloated cars and the bloated ego.

Personally I think Madonna is is a Farcical example of the human race.[I am being polite].
And Yes big Mercs are are an Anathema to sporty car round the bendy boys, but In the real world I am here, and as you have said before, not all drivers are equal,or for that matter able.

Regards Mark.

One never doubted whether, in the real world, you were here, although one may have doubted your taste in cars.

What the hell is going on???

I kid you not, I just saw a red carrera gt on telly, Asda have hundreds of them, and it's dropped to £19.99.

Oversupply is the problem here guys and gals.
