Wheres rlw?

He's got a Zanzibar Mk1 hasnt he, and lives near Brands (though I wouldnt have thought he would have the cross on the back)
He was in Cornwall when this thread started but is now thinking (in a guilty way) "oh good, now only 8 in RHD".........

That does look a mess and suitable only for the bin I think.
Pleased to hear it wasny you anyway smile
IMO (I repair cars and had own bodyshop) the 7is a "nastier" repair than the 6 It looks cosmetic,by that I mean mostly bolt on parts with no "structual damage" It is supprising Ive seen cars with visually minor damage but shell twisted ect ect,so wont know till its checked and measured properly a dream come true for an opc been there done that drink to ins assesor followed by "mate" getting cheap GT3 to repair!
G
mind you probably not insured so will just be bought for the right money or sold on EB** ECT.

If it was worth 35K before in good condition
sell when repaired 25k
cost 10k to fix...

Might be 15k
Do we get any points for getting closest to the sale price??

Why is it 'madness'? From the majority of 'its fit for the bin' and 'its good to break only' posts in this thread it is plain that most posters have little to no idea what theyre talking about.

Based on what I can see, as everyone elses post is, it appears to be a relatively easy repair to me. Amusingly - the second car pictured is far more seriously damaged, but because the wings and door arent dented and scratched, everyone seems less concerned.

How much was the second car up for. looked to have carbon seats and brakes along with the engine thats anything up to £25k you could get for the parts you could salvage off of it.

lol just because someone pays 15.5K for that car doesn't mean it's the 'right' price.
He may be buying it to sell on as parts, he may be buying it as a project knowing he won't make anything out of it.
Who knows?

The only reason people are negative is because fixing that properly is definitely more than a 10k job if using new parts and paying labour. Probably double that in fact.

£15500, plus aucton fees and delivery is going to leave the car costing £16k. Without actually seeing the car I cannot say exactly what it is going to cost to fix, but it isnt going to be cheap. It needs 2 bumpers, 2 headlights, 2 tail lights. A wing, a door, a quarter panel. An engine cover and GT3 spoiler. Some rear suspension, an airbag and the detonator reset. A complete respray and probably a few other minor parts. All that for a car that is going to be worth a maximum of £25k when complete.
While the work wont be done at an OPC it will have to be done to a pretty high standard so add labour on to the list of parts and you wont be that far off the price of a straight car.

That was my point when I said it was fit only for the bin. Unless the purchaser can sell it in bits for a profit, surely the cost of fixing it, plus the purchase price, and its now somewhat flawed history, will mean its never worth that money to an(informed!)future purchaser. Of course, if the current purchaser intends using it himself, possibly as a track car, then good luck to him and may he get many years of happy motoring out of it.

How much would it make if broken for spares, roughly? I'm sure some would think about selling the ID too..

It will be auctioned on Wednesday 14th. It sold for £40k a couple of weeks ago, but it is back up for sale again.

I think a lot of you guys are missing the point, my guess is whoever bought that car was in the trade, most salvage is sold to bodyshop guys.

I am not saying joe public hasnt bought it, but even if that is the case if they can do the work themself's then a big saving on labour will be acheived.

If that car was sat in the corner of my workshop and used as an inbetween job's deal i would be quite happy, i know a chap bought a ferrari 456, took him over a year to source the parts and repair the car, cheap motor at the end.
