OK so thats a UK plate 959 Sport (one mirror) parked at Manthey - isn't that giving the owner away a little bit........
Guy
Actually it's got the other mirror too, which is just blocked from view.
You can tell it's a Sport by the roll cage.
No attempt to be cute; someone above asked for images, and I had taken a few recently.
I couldn't get my MemoryStick to work, so Joe911 was kind enough to post the images.

959 Lux.....0-60=4.2....0-100=9.7....0-150=22.5...Fast Lane 1989.
Are the figures for the "Sport" much different (lighter weight)?
((and of course flemke's has a litle extra power, just in case of emergencies))
Actually - looking on the web ...
959 Sport - 0-62 in 3.7s ... 0-100 in 8.3s

From memory at the time the sport was 200 kilos lighter, also the factory claimed figuers were somewhat fanciful.although 8.something would calculate about right.
Mark.

I sold the Rocket, Flemke!
It was not as bulletproof as hoped, giving me too many headaches. And the total lack of weight / downforce at the front wheels was getting more and more annoying too. But it is still here in Holland and being taken good care of! I am back with the Norfolk boys again, I guess they just give me the most smiles per gallon
Cheers, Ruben

I've seen your Rocket a few times... You're sure that it's "being taken good care of"? I know the new owner (if it is who I'm thinking) and he's a bit of a nutcase

And thinking logically... I thought all 959 were LHD, would be a bit silly to put a mirror on the RHD side only, not?

flemke - love the 959 the colour is superb.
Cheers.
I'm normally put off by red cars, but in this case I had no choice.
White would have been my first choice, like the 961s at Le Mans. With 35 Sports in the world, it was unlikely that I was going to come across one in white, so I got this.
I do think that several Porsche shapes work fairly well in Guards/India Red.
It came with the usual boring silver/grey wheels (), so I had to do something about them.

Lovely looking 959 Flemke. Although my first thoughts were that it was going to be silver for some reason.
Have got rather tired of silver, although the silver car behind it in the images could be said to be mine, so technically you may be correct. I'm going to sell it, so then I would be silverless.

Flemke, what size brakes does the 959 have - are they of the "big-red" ilk or entirely different?
thanks,
Oh, no, not Big Reds. thanks,
The wheels are 17, the rotors 322mm/304 F/R. Four pots F/R.
The brakes are just fantastic. If you were to thrash the car on a circuit, I expect that they would fade, if only because of the car's weight and the speeds that you would be doing. Fade is influenced by many things in addition to rotor size, weight and speed, so who knows? Perhaps they would hang in there.
For normal road driving, however, they are the best that I have ever used: minimal pedal travel, instantaneous reactivity, very good feel. They are a proper driving tool.

Did your 959 come with some kind of commemorative book, perhaps detailing its history/origins?
Not as such. Although pretty low mileage, it had a thick sheaf of documentation, OPC services, images from books in which it had been pictured, that sort of thing. No special book.
