Well I'm off to Reading Saturday to check out the seats once and for all but I'm starting to think if i do go for buckets id like them in the leather so go without the club sport no cost optionconfused.

The other thing I'm thinking of is what will it cost for a pair of black recaro buckets for track days or would it just be to much agro changing them over?????

I think both options in the cars look wicked and they both have pros and cons for me, ill just have to make a firm decision Saturday.

Hang on - surely you can have leather covered buckets in a Clubsport car? No?

Thats a little question ill have for Reading on Saturday, at 3k id hope i could have leather.

Very interesting indeed (and that's apart from speccing new stead), I'll post elswhere tomorrow. Mrs B seems to think part of the deal was that in return for being dragged round the factory she now gets taken out!

By taken out,I presume she means a day watching you go sideways on the GT3 driving day

& I believe the clubsport has to come in flame retardant fabric rather than leather, so you only get leather buckets if you don't go clubsport, but it still costs £3k extra!

You can buy 997 GT3 seats from www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm they cost 5500 euros/£3600 for a pair in leather.

Why would you pay £3,600 for them when you can get originals fitted in the GT3 for £3130 from the factory in leather/alcantara, then spend the rest on a half cage/chunk of steel behind your head, if that is what floats your boat!

You are right - it is uneconomical to do it this way BUT it might be cheaper if you were to order a 997 GT3 with the sports seats only to find that you find them uncomfortable and you need to buy a standard 997 GT3 seat at around ~£1500 each... at least the option is there.

You could also try your friendly OPC to see what the retail cost is from them. I understand that Carnewal are quite competitive although I have never used them.

The reason the clubsport is a no cost option with the buckets is this; you drop the more expensive leather and alcantara in favour of the black fabric. With this cost saving they give you one set of harnesses, a fire extinguisher and a half roll cage.

Its defo a case of you pay your money, you make your choice.

I might go for comfort and buy normal recaros with harness at a later date. Thats does seem like a lot of agro though.

Thing is if your just going for the buckets then the 3k seems not great value. So buying some recaro's might make sence but how much are they for a pair?

Ahhh - you lot are not helping now that I have gone for the Clubsport package your making me think I made the wrong decision!!!

Anyway If I don't like the flame retarand fabric I could always get the bolsters restitced in leather by a 3rd party....

Absolutely, you make your choices

This is mine and I do not regret it for one second. Every drive is an event.

If going with buckets, I'd stick with the fabric (assume it's Nomex, as per 996 CS/RS). More comfortable than leather and grips you better too. Win, win.

As with Pugseys car the buckets do make Blowdogs GT3 look very race car, with big metal runners, rough fabric & that metal behind your ear! Certainly more of an event as said, but what makes the world go around is our different tastes & opinions.I personally still prefer the leather & Alcantara standard seats & the extra real world every day driver practicality that also brings to the party, but I can fully see why others would want the buckets.

AnywayI am sure driving this car is going to enough of an event what ever seats you choose!
When in doubt toss a coin!

Well I'm afraid legroom was priority for me, so after trying each type of seat went for the adaptive sports.
I know there's all that extra weight but I'll never notice it, and the PCCB option should help counter that anyway.

Is there any real merit in having the rollcage if you don't intend to cartwheel it round the Nurburgring?

Doh! Is there really any point in insuring your car if you don't intend crashing it or your house if you don't intend burning it down!! I'll also admitt that I like the way it looks - don't you ever choose things for that reason alone?

I have the buckets in mine and find them very comfortable, even on very long trips.

The only issue with then is that they are not made for large people and I have had one or two passengers who literally do not fit into them !!!

I was intending to remove the roll cage to allow for more luggage storage on long European runs but it occurred to me that it would almost certainly rob some rigidity from the chassis.

I'm thinking that after the GT3 at some point ill go down the RS route. So to really feel the change I might go for comfort in the 3 as the RS is going to be an RS. Otherwise id be really changing just for the outside appearance, i doubt id get any better time round a track with an RS compared to a 3 but thats just me.....
