Extended trim package grab handles in leather

Compliments the full leather interior, ever so slightly padded too, nice to the touch and I am reminded of how much they cost every time I close the door, but it does feel very nice and of course you get 6 of them.

The stitching is exquisite.

Against

Nothing really they are great, should be standard with full leather interior.

Very nice, and yes I agree they should be included in the full leather interior option!

I don't know if anyone remembers my post from September regarding the front passenger grab handle starting to come away from the plastic base (just under the chrome ring)? This was of course fixed under warranty. However I've since noticed that the plastic/composite that holds the handle creaks quite a bit and just feels a bit flimsy. The other doors don't do that so I am assuming that this isn't quite right. I've had a look at the structure underneath the handle and where two pieces of plastic join there seems to be a bit of a gap suggesting that there isn't a perfect fit. I mentioned this to the OPC last time I took it in and they put some silicon around there. Still creaks and doesn't feel like Porsche quality.

I wish there wasn't any plastic in the door card to be honest (I paid to have full natural leather interior). Having just had a Panamera loan car for a couple of days the contrast is quite striking.

I would get this looked at mine is fine no creaks etc

I know I had to pay a fair bit to get the handle surrounds and rear ashtrays covered in leather, but thats an option for another day, but should have been included,

Agreed! It does annoy me a bit.

It's still an amazing car though!

Really enjoyed reading this thread....especially seeing some of the great photos.

I may be in the minority, but i have my Cayenne Diesel on order for delivery at Christmas and seem to be working in the reverse order ( as the purists would claim). I've had a 2006 997 C2S, a 2008 997 C2S, a 2010 Panamera 4S and shortly a Cayenne Diesel. My route through porsche ownership has been driven by a love of Porsche and their quality and two growing teenagers. I was really unsure if the Cayenne was for me...let alone a Diesel smile but after a test drive in September I was really surprised and impressed with the car, it feels very much a Porsche. Perhaps coming from the Panamera the Cayenne fits, as it has a very similar interior and i'm now used to driving something "big".

Anyway i just wanted to say how much i liked the Cayenne Diesel and to say thanks, as this thread has proven to be a really useful topic to gauge feedback.

Al.

Blimey I found this thread...and indeed the whole Cayenne Diesel S news...late, but glad I did.

Perfect motor to replace the ML in a cpl of yrs. For those who question the need for the big V8 over the V6...yes you do use the torque. Pretty much every day actually and especially if you do any distance in them. They are perfect GT and cruisers and for hauling kit around. The ML is perfect for us and I was mightily pissed at Merc when they announced they were not replacing the big diesel model as it only left the blingy blingy RR which is the opposite of what we want and the Godawful X5 which the wife refuses outright. Pork to the rescue!

The V6 with simple tuning knocks out about 660NM but importantly the response from the VTG turbo makes the torque even more effective, under 60 mph the V6 is plenty fast enough so for most UK driving the V8 is total overkill.

I have not driven the V8, and will try to avoid to do so for as long as I can, but so far I have never wanted more from my V6 in standard form. If I were buying today I would drive both and decide.

"Simple tuning" i.e. not going to happen.
I do the majority of my driving on the Continent.

And after all that there is frankly the sheer fking fun of these things when you plant your right foot. Esp on a hill. Everything else goes backwards...including the dog in the cage in the back. It still makes me giggle like a 7yr old school girl every time smile

Well impressed with how the G-techniq stuff works. 750 miles of crud. Stuck some snow foam on it, jet washed and it barely needed anything more!

First in line allegedly at my OPC for the Diesel S. Email earlier to say my Jan build now May delivery at the earliest as Porsche reduced build slots for UK and Porsche UK not given them an earlier slot than this. Deposit being returned. Grrrrrr.

By "simple" I mean a plug in tuning box type device...

Point taken about driving outside UK, the surge stops at about 50 or 60mph and it is gutless over these speeds.

It's no longer than everybody had to wait for their V6 Diesels though.

6 months seems to be the going rate.

That's bks. If you're first in line, how has that happened ? OPC says UK will get 300 cars for 2013, with build to start in Jan. May at the 'earliest'?! You must be furious. Whilst they have a desirable product, partly through it's scarcity, if they make it that difficult to buy them we'll all get cheesed off and buy something else instead. Lambo Urus (their new premium SUV) will be being delivered before they get these things off the production line.

Precisely why you should get cars protected, mine has GTechnic Exo on for 3 months or so and still holding up strong, need to do a clean routine write up soon.

Enjoy

Exactly what I was thinking, better for residuals too, nothing wrong with waiting, gives you the time to tick a few more boxes

I had two OPCs offering me a Jan build slot. One not close to me who I've bought from before and another new OPC local to me. The distant one had promised me their first slot as a decent regular customer and was a Feb delivery, the local one assured 100% they could do the same so went with them. Turns out they hadn't had confirmation at all from Porsche UK....

Unfortunately can't wait til May before changing my current family wagon. Put my deposit down as soon as it was announced so if I could wait that would be nine months from placing my order.
