It does make you wonder, the wife's Boxster is not two years old yet and has started to develop gremlins, heater blowers packed up, now the memory seats don't work and there is also a recall on the clutch which they are doing, it's not giving me a great deal of confidence in the car with regards keeping it longer term!

The wife also said last night how much faster her loan Boxster was than her own car, which is really weird becuase she has 3.4 S and the loan car is 2.7, go figure??
No dont worry AB a loan car is always faster, especially from cold.

While we're on the quality issues, there is currently an ongoing issue with new Boxsters and Caymans where its clear an accountant has overruled an engineer and a cheap plastic part has been fitted into the brake pedal assembly. If you've been driving around for an extended period of time with the heaters on then you get a PSM failure light and a Stop/Start failure followed by a cruise control failure. The VW rot has started to set in at Porsche...
Not read about this, which is not a good sign for the 9X1 series of sports cars.

I got a 981 Boxster S in June 12, one of the first.

On delivery, the gap between the near side front wing and the bumper was 4mm wide which was shocking. The factory fitted "Boxster S" kickplates on one side and "Boxster" on the other.

Apart from that, no issues in 4.5 months and 4500 miles.

Does the 981 have a fuel release button? If not my loaner has its first fault within 200 miles frown

Has anyone wondered why - 3 weeks until an update , very odd amount of time!
1) still testing the new components
2) lawyers inspecting the final draft of the all telling letter .... Offering £££££
3) German festival ???

I think April 7 is the day when we were promised all would be revealed.

my B-day.....PCGB are in the dark on this one. If no visibility then or the fix is to far out, I will return my car, as not in UK much until end of the year, might as well wait for the RS

Spoke to a nice lady at Porsche GB earlier in the week. No real new information but in her opinion some kind of cash compensation would be forthcoming. I told her that this would be the least that i would be expecting given that in my view the value of the car would be diminished because of a new engine. She was of the opinion that the cars value wold not be affected, shocker lol.
You know what , I wouldn't hold your breath ! I have wasted hours writing and ringing Porsche GB and I am absolutely no further forward - All I want is :

1. To be compensated for all costs whilst unable to drive the car , to include a reasonable amount for depreciation.

2 . To be allowed to get my money back if post engine fix , the car isn't mechanically identical to it's pre engine swop condition.

This has been going on for weeks and I was finally told today :

1 Money back or fix - up to me ; but no guarantee on fix over and above normal warranty and no money back even if immediately after the fix the car doesn't operate properly - "don't worry sir , it will be fine " - I suppose I could always fall back on my ever reducing warranty ! Bottom line Porsche are not guaranteeing the fix.

2 Again no word on compensation - I was led to believe this would be forthcoming today ; other than , they will agree to let me keep the loan car (big deal) and when resolved , they may offer a small goodwill gesture - but they can not comment on what this will be until issue is resolved - this is just wrong - it is a very simple formula : weekly costs incurred * time off the road.

Why do the customers in the US and In Europe have a daily rate and customers in the UK have nothing ?

For the first time, I realised that Porsche UK simply don't care and Porsche will do the minimum they can do - I know this has been said on here countless times but I just couldn't believe that a group making a 2.3 BN euro profit would behave like this - I just can't understand it , it is ethically bankrupt . I guarantee the engine replacement will purely be down to liability risk management , nothing more , nothing less .

Porsche - You should be ashamed of yourself !

Its all part of our culture here in the UK. We allow our selfs to get screwed because we do not stick together. Its all about go to work, get home and shut the door and fk everyone else. We have created our own and these very conditions, like the self created condition for the typical UK employee and that one and only condition is, "if you don't like tough, leave". We really do swallow everything, just look at the state of our country. Enough said.

Mmmmmm not good Richard, so what's everybodies opinion if our friends across the pond and in other areas of europe end up being compensated hand over fist and UK buyers are just expected to suck it up, which from what Richard has said appears to be the case!

My own opinion is to wait until the 7th April and then regroup, I am becoming less convinced that this compensation idea actually exists anywhere other than the imagination of individuals on internet forums!

Another day down!

Big Al.

Time to bring this thread to a close, or the hamsters will crack under the strain of keeping it open.

So here's your new thread, and long may it continue, well until volume 3 at least.
