996RS - 996 GT3 mk1
Discussion
I had both at the same time for about 6 months. The RS feels a much sharper car. Better throttle response, quicker but more nervous on the road than the MK1. I think that I know where you are going with this.
If i'm right, my advice would be to stay with your Mk1. I know what your 993 will end up feeling like when it's finished and the MK1 will compliment that nicely by feeling a little softer and more agreeable on the road. An RS may be a little too much steroid in conjunction with a 993 Clubbie. Also, the prices of the RS's are very high compared to the MK1's. Is it twice the car? To me no, Its the best 911 that ive ever driven but not a mile better than the MK1 that you already have. On saying that, if money is no object, and you have another car in the collection to soften the blow, you will be a very happy man with a 6RS in your garage.

Yours is not a Club Sport anyway, so you would be adding value
I would actually keep your car standard if I were you. And that advice comes from someone who owns a fully Manthey-ed Mk1 CS that makes a 996RS seem very soft and diluted.
As much as I love it, having driven a 32k miles totally restored back to stock and as new CS Mk1, sometimes I feel that too much of the Cup/Ring weapon was introduced by Manthey.
Have a look at my spec if you don't believe the comparison with the RS Given you already have a fully focused track beast, less could be more...

I had an M&&M full exhaust fitted last year - purchased directly from them (they used to/still do supply manthey with the exhausts for their k400 conversion). The full exhaust and a DMS remap got us 397 bhp for well under £5k. The car isn't any less road compliant as a result. The soundtrack is brilliant and there's more instant response throughout the rev range. I'd say the power is now more linear than before so in some ways even more road friendly rather than a mad rush high up the rev range.
Got some great info off SlippyDiff for it.

Did you really say the latter bit Steve old boy ?????? Better throttle response ? Firstly Richard, you need to ditch the DMF, no doubt you've done so with the 993 ? So you'll know the simply massive weight difference between the two flywheels. Someone smarter than I will be able to tell you what the formula is for the gains gotten by removing rotational weight from the engine components and the drivetrain (as opposed to removing weight from the vehicle itself).
I seem to recall recommending you go the Manthey K400 exhaust route previously. If you do what Singh911 has done, it won't cost anything like what JZM would charge.
The full Manthey K400 conversion uses a Cup filter, carbon fibre cold air duct (which requires cutting the inside of the engine cover away) MAF delete/Alpha N and reconfiguring the ECU to run Alpha N). In reality the Cup filter, MAF delete, cold air duct etc actually contribute very little to the additional horsepower afforded by the K400 conversion, the main gains come from the improved manifolds, higher flow cats, large bore piping and more efficient silencers. The standard cats and manifolds really do appear to strangle the car at the top end.
Do as Singh911 has done and you'll have 95% of the hp gains for probably 50% of the cost, and as others have said, it's reversible.
The other upsides are that not only will the throttle response (especially if you fit the Clubsport flywheel) be better than the RS, the last 2000rpm will be even more rabid than the later car.
Doing the "budget" Manthey K400 makes the Mk1 just as strong as the RS (but with a better top end rush) and imbues it with waaaay more character than the newer car, as the M & M exhaust has a crosspipe design that makes the car wail like it should do from the factory.

honestly leave that mk1 original - its stunning.. So what if it needs or could handle an extra 40bhp
250bhp is plenty let alone 360bhp lol
Agreed, what kind of idiot spends thousands modifying a car and adds chunks of additional horsepower to an already quick car ........ oh hold on 250bhp is plenty let alone 360bhp lol
If Richard continues down this path, before you know it he'll be driving around in his most hated of cars, that of course being a BMW. Oh hold on .......................

In my defence a 997.1 is never going to be collectable and silly not to make the most of its abilities when the extra power is so easily attainable and relatively cheaply from the maestro at 9e. you can easily have 25% + more power on super unleaded and more like 33% more power on race fuel with the power kit I've bought. That for the same price as Manthey 400 which gives you about 10% over stock. Man maths eh!
