speed yellow is the level.

glenn's gt3 looks even better in the flesh... buy one, you won't be disappointed, and as all the replies here show, it is popular so you won't have resale problems.

Perhaps everyone who thinks it looks revolting are too polite to say so.
Non porsche people probably don't appreciate the significance of the yellow to the marque. Most valid point made is that it stands out. Police hardly likely to be able to ignore you if your doing something wrong.

Why has the lovely Speed Yellow 993 at 911 Virgin been up for sale for so long then?

If I had the money, I'd be there to buy it tomorrow.

(Hoping to get a 993 before the end of the year BTW).

I would imagine a yellow 993 would be much more difficult for resale than a yellow GT3. Doesn't suit a 993 IMHO.

Suppose I've never been one for the norm, but I just love this car.

Totally agree here, unless we're talking about a 993RS or 993GT2

For the road I think bright colours are forgivable if they represent the brand - IE Ferrari / Alfa etc - but yellow is just brash for the sake of it. I am told that trashy and vulgar is the new minimalist but some people…. for the track anything goes

I would never dream of a Guards Red 911, however there was a really nice bright green 964 on the letters page of last month's Porsche & 911 World that really appealed. Don't know if it was a standard colour or not. I'd hardly call yellow trashy or vulgar, but I have warmed to these colours rather than the same old Polar Silvers etc.

I think speed yellow is prob not ideal for a 1st or work car, especially if it were to be used for attending meetings, etc. Though it is a great colour for a 2nd car or weekend hoon mobile, if you like it of course.

I find it really adds to the excitement of the car....or maybe I am too obsessed

Thanks for all the comments and opinions.
The car will not be an everyday car - purely a weekend and holiday toy. (I get a company car for the mundane stuff)

Glen - your car looks awesome !

Hopefully going to have a close look at this car on Saturday.
PS Anyone want to buy my RS6 ??

I've got a MK 1 SY GT3 and initially I was inclined not to go and look at it as I've never been a fan of yellow cars.

Was totally knocked out when I saw it in the flesh. GT3's in SY have massive presence and it's the best colour for a GT3 IMO. Get one!

Hmmm, i actually don't think they look too bad in SY.

But, having said that, i think it would be a residual nightmare !!!!!

I think the Mk2 GT3 looks stunning in Speed Yellow, looked at it myself, but liked the Black/Black combo better.. also have had a Cerbera 4.5 in Camel Yellow and Mrs said never again..lol
I think for trackdays and social only, SY would work, but if you use car for driving to work as I do, would be too much.

SY = DB's. End of debate.

.....and yes, they are definitely faster.
