996 Engine Whine - Is this normal on recentlyrebuilt engine?

It is the starter,but I got mine rebuilt its the input shaft thats faulty.It cost £85 plus vat and 1.5hrs labour to remove and replace.
A new/rebuilt starter is £330ish plus labour.

Position confirmed by my favourite Porsche Centre, pretty much what you said JVR, will be dealt with next month, worst case, new starter motor.

I have the same noise since my rebuild. It wasn't there before and it's driving me crazy...
Has anyone found a solution/ fix over the years??
