Who are the Moderators on PH ?

One person breaks a speed limit, so a committee of 2 or 3 people get together and decide to lower that speed limit for the many others that pass through.
Spiffing.
Not at all.Spiffing.
The speed limit is known.
Someone gets caught breaking the rules multiple times.
The number of points on their licence tots up until they are banned from driving.
A casual observation here. Pistonheads is one of the best moderated sites I have ever used. It is largely hands-off and I have seen very little evidence of moderators being power-hungry kids, which is the case on a great many other sites.
It must also be borne in mind that PH is a business. If whatever Crimp posted (having been warned not to) was offensive, considering a broad audience, then I am not surprised he was banned. I'd ban him if it were my business!
All of which said, PH needs to be careful that moderation remains skilfully applied. I have seen once great and popular websites cease to be great or popular when moderation fell into the hands of people with insufficient skill and maturity. It's a balance between not alienating the wider audience vs not alienating the more colourful characters that contribute to give a site its personality.
Here endeth the sermon.
