When the 996 was current Porsche sold a seat called a Porsche Prince for 9 month to 4 year olds, I just sold my one a couple of weeks back. They fit perfectly in the back seats of 997's too should you have another impulse urge

They come up on eBay if you are prepared to buy a safety item from there. They are just a block of polystyrene with a cloth cover so easy to check over and take an educated guess on if they have ever been used in anger. Tend to sell for between 50 to 100 notes. It's actually a Britax seat and you can get a non Porsche version with a nasty cover.

Enjoy the car, looks awesome as my kids would say!

Congrats on the car, for the money you can't really beat one.

In terms of the seat you will need one with a bit more support and recline options than the one above IMO. I have the britax equivalent of the one posted above but I didn't start using it until mine was three.

It's a bit tougher at 15 months to get a suitable seat in the back. The ones with lower crash protection and slimline plastic backs are for the older kids.

I will have a look once I have been Xmas shopping...

Kiddy Guardianfix Pro 2 won't fit in my GT3, it's too wide at the shoulders. I suspect thi will be a problem with most newer seats as they all seem to have extra impact foam for side collisions.

Fat trader, do you know which model Maxi. Cost that is ? Would you say the little armrests would be in the way if the seat belt latch was fixed to the tunnel (yours looks a like it has some movement with the webbing).

It is a basic Maxi Cosi. I found that all the other seat I tried either had too big a bottom or too big on the shoulders. The clip is on webbing but this woudl fit under the arm whether on webbing or not. It is as near perfect fit as you can get in my opinion.

I had a little look at what I did and my little one stayed in a non-seatbelt Maxi Cosi (the bulkier one with the dual straps and only fits in the front) until she was 3.

Each to their own but I would not personally recommend the one above as its for kids older than yours as it uses the seat belt as security.

At 15 months you really need to be putting yours into a seat where they are strapped in tight and not using the seat belt. 3 and above is fine for the above seat and I use the Britax equivalent myself. My missus also insisted on ISOFIX mount pointed seats until she was 3.

Probably not what you want to hear but there you go, I can't see a decent one on the website, anyone else have any suggestions for a 15 month old ?

Your right Carl, the Maxi Cosi is group 2/3 not for group 1 (it's a pitty they don't offer an impact cushion to use it as a Group 1 seat like the Kiddy and Cybex seats).

I had the Porsche prince seat in the back of my 996, which will do from about 1-3yr olds. Issues are:
1. Its a very poor car seat - flimsy, bad design but it is one of the few that will fit in a 996.
2. The seat is very upright due to the design of the car - they will all suffer from this, and at that age the child likes to nap in the car, which means its head will fall forward and its not a comfortable seat for long distances for this reason.
3. To give the child anything like legroom and not have it kicking the rear of the front seat the front has to be so far forward that the passenger has to be very short or extremely tolerant of having legs up against dash.

IMO you are betting fitting the airbag deactivation kit and putting a better quality child seat in the front

It's a Maxi Cosi Tobi for me, in the back of a 996 Turbo S. It's fits beautifully, with a couple of caveats, and my son has been using it from 13 months to 2.5 years. Things to note:

• You need to remove the rear seat base to get it securely enough mounted at the bottom.
• The base of the Maxi Cosi is quite high, so the boy sits fairly high up, but he gets a great view out the front. You also need to be careful it doesn't rub on the C pillar (I've got a patch of helicopter tape on the just in case).
• If you leave the rear seat back in place, it sits very flat and forward, which means it's more vertical than in a normal car. It basically doesn't recline as much as you'd want for a sleeping 1 year old.
• You do need the front passenger seat quite a long way forward, especially when your baby is young - short legs stick straight out front. This gets better as little legs get longer, and can dangle normally.
• It is a royal PITA to get fixed in place - don't expect to swap the seat between cars quickly.

After a while, I experimented with removing the rear seat back as well as base. That gives a good fit, a much better angle of recline, and more room, but you do need to wedge something under the front edge of the baby seat to get the most secure fit. I have a folded up towel very firmly jammed in there to fill the gaps in the strange shaped Porsche seat pan; it's rock solid, but did take time to get right. I have the seat mounted permanently though, so it was worth half an hour of swearing to get the belt tension spot on and the seat held securely.

So, it's definitely possible to get a good fit in a Group 1/2 seat, just be prepared to take some time over it.

It just so happens we have a maxi cosi tobi that my sister bought as a spare but hasn't needed it - only used once so I will have a real go at it tomorrow.

My wife worked today so me and the little one went out for the day and she loved being in her pebble in the back. She was so happy and really enjoyed being able to see through the roof and rear window. When we stopped for lunch she even clambered through to me to sit on my lap and started playing with all the buttons and even worked out how to get the key in and out of the ignition!!! My little girl is a petrol head :0)

Having been through this when I got my 996 in sept I'd say go for the Besafe IZI comfort x3 as it fits perfectly and I tried many different seats all of which were recommended by threads on here and stating they fitted but neither me or the staff at Halfords, kiddicare, mamas and papas or toys r us could get any of them to fit as designed.
