Not sure if this has a thread yet, but I see Collecting Cars has a Singer "Newcastle" in the Coming section.

Singer, Newcastle

Interesting.

Why commission a Singer to a very personal specification and then sell after only running her in (1100 miles)? Maybe financial pressures from covid?

I’ve seen better and more desirable looking ‘Singers’.

Agree, seems nuts especially as I don't think the paint and interior is as inspiring as other Singers.

I doubt the original owner was thing about resale value when they spec'ed it.

Looks fantastic.
Just one thing that jars for me is the rev counter. After spunking all that money, time and effort on the beautiful detailing why on earth is the rev counter calibrated round to 11K revs and red lined at only just over 7K. That and the colour of it would drive me mad. mad

I noticed this the other night.

Surely the whole point of a Singer is getting something special built completely to your spec? As it is I think this one looks absolutely nothing special at all.

Jazzy interior aside, the exterior just looks like any other rest-mod done by any number of small firms on farms and industrial estates across the UK (yes I know carbon this and bespoke that). I'm still of the opinion that the wheel/tyre stretch thing is at odds with the classic shell visually.

Will be interesting to see what it reaches (my guess is not the reserve) but at a new cost of half a million or so I'd rather buy something that Porsche built themselves-a genuine air cooled RS and something fettled by someone local to my exact wants/needs.

It’s a spinal tap reference, volume up to 11.

Agree that the red does not look good at all. Reminiscent of the sort of dodgy, over the top specs on current models.

Yup...don;t see the point of buying one of these and not driving it. Surely that’s the whole point of a Restomod/Hot Rod ? This car was advertised on International Collectibles writhin a couple of days of this one that DK Engineering had......DK car sold within a week. Was advertised for £650k IIRC or maybe it was this one!

https://www.dkeng.co.uk/ferrari-sales/1302/prestig...

Listened to an interview with the founders of Singer when the new rally car was launched. They’ve sold about 150 cars so far and have orders for “hundreds more”....amazing success story. They’re almost trading at a premium to new cost because of the waiting time but spec/options are key and very expensive. e.g. CCB’s are £30k, 4.0 engine £40k. At some stage in the next couple of years that demand/supply balance will tip the other way as more cars get delivered and they will be at a 20% discount to new which is what they shiould be IMHO.

I still dont get the singer thing at all,the interiors all to a personal taste that i think are aweful for a 911,over priced and possibly overrated.
The bargain and best part of the singer is the engine at 40k,good friend has a williams special on order, that engine is a true work of art and engineering at its best, cant wait for a spin in it.

I’ve been looking at this and come to a similar conclusion on these.

Engine in the DLS is special yes. And the actual engineering of the ACS is pretty cool also.

But for the ‘classics’, I don’t get the point of them as an actual driving tool.
The sum of the parts doesn’t justify the incredible costs. You’re paring for the hours of craftsmanship.
So really they are just an example ultimate expression of individualisation, exclusivity and awe of the bubble.... and letting others know that you have paid a crazy amount of money for it.
They have created a great business though, plenty of people willing to spend and back orders for years to come.

On your next shopping trip, pop into your local Blockbusters, and rent a VHS of this most excellent Rockumentary.

If they have a rent-two for less, get the original Blues Brothers as well, to remind you how good films used to be.

You've not seen the Blue Brothers?

The £40k for the 4.0 engine is the upgrade cost over the 3.8 !

DLS will be incredible I am sure. But then it’s apparently a £2mil car so it should be !
