Something I've always wondered, how many of you lot actually have trackday insurance and how many put their trust in themselves & others? It's always struck me that when people aren't insured they might be less gung ho.

Come on be honest now!

I've always had insurance, not that I take risks.

The trouble is you could be driving well within your's and the car's limits when something outside your control (another car, oil on track, etc) causes you to visit the armco.

I however think the writing is on the wall for track day cover, with more and more underwriters not prepared to even offer cover. PCGB days however seem to still be covered easily. However I for one like a little more choice as to where and when I track my car.

Only time will tell, but I suspect I may be without cover this time next year. A prospect that is not very welcome.

Most track day insurance (well, mine anyway) will cover damage to YOUR car only, no 'participant-to-participant' liability -check yours....

So who pays if you were to crash into another car causing serious injury to the other driver?

I always have trackday cover as part of my normal policy, but as Paulc said this is getting harder and harder to find.

I'm not looking forward to the next few years, and I won't venture out on track without it

I presume each party has to bear its own damage, whether to car or person - as part of the liability disclaimer you sign, perhaps. In this case you'd better have private medical cover up to date etc.

Otherwise, I imagine that in cases of negligence or maliciousness, you may be able to resort to civil or criminal law, and seek damages through the civil court. If it was a genuine accident, I'm not sure you could get anything back tho'.

Interesting point Steve - I read the bit in this month's EVO about trackdays and had the same thought myself.

Cheers
