Simple question: Do we think the 996 GT3 prices will rapidly rise as per the 964/993 RS' in the next few years? Prices seem to have frozen for the past 2/3 years, so could this just be because we are in tough times?

Obviously not you'll be lucky to get £10 in a few years, even the GT3 engine is bound to fail, etc

My feeling is a bottom of 20k, within 2-3 years. These cars are not in terribly short supply, but as always good cars will demand good money. I agree MK1 CS and RS will be significantly higher than this...Keep with the 94 for the moment steve, it looks spot on after the work at U11.
True, more than the 964 RS but less than the 993 Turbo.

Build numbers
964 RS - 2595
993 Turbo - 5157
996 GT3 - 4182

There are around 1000 less GT3s around than than 993 Turbos (which have held at around £50k), and coupled with the fact they are recognised as one of the best drivers cars ever built by Porsche, my question is why?

turbo's never did stick at £50k, they went well below that.
Still looks like it's £50k+ for a good 993 Turbo?

We're all going seriously O/T now! biglaugh

This isn't a "should I buy a GT3 because it will rocket in value" thread, I'm just trying to see what everybody thinks about the '6 GT3 prices rising up within the next few years, as some people have said it will and others not. I think we've got the gist of the 'only live once' stuff by now.

& that's the futility of it in one sentence.

No-one knows for sure what will happen, yet you will always get some people saying one thing and others saying the opposite (though of course it may make slightly less interesting reading if a load of people just answered "I don't know"). Regardless of whether people own gt3s, want to buy gt3s or even hope their dad might get a gt3 wink no-one can tell the bloody future!

So why worry about something you can neither predict nor influence?

If you can afford it do it, if not don't bother & buy something cheaper smile
I didn't intend to relate the thread to buying the car - indeed you can either afford it or not, and the depreciation/appreciation is just a byproduct.

Perhaps it is a futile question, but since there have been a few threads saying "xyz says GT3 an investment", and some replies to others saying "buy now before they rocket", I really just wanted to have a discussion to support the theory/put it to bed. smile
