If (if) I should buy a Cayenne S, what MPG should I expect?

Interesting...

If you read some of the independent press, it gives the impression that the the car was selling like hot cakes (the best selling Porsche in the US?)

I wasn't aware that there were any major build quality problems. My year old 996 has spent more time in the garage than it should have done with stupid problems. does that mean that Porsche have a problem all round?, and according to the press today German cars all round got a right hammering which is unusual.

If you read any 996 thread, build engine and other problems are really causing a problem and when you spend that sort of money should that be the case?

The MPG is more of interest than a deciding factor. The 996 does 22 - 24mpg which is pretty good, but it would be interesting to know what the Cayenne does in real life, not just according to the book.

Still think the demo one looks good sitting in the drive though!

as mentioned on a previous post, i borrowed a cayenne s for 2 days whilst my car was in for a service. the combined mpg for the two days was around 14 mpg. lovely drive though. if you're thinking of a 4x4 why don't you get a range rover vogue?

Just fancied another Porsche.

The re-sale value of the Range Rover is pretty crap isn't it?
