Finally picked it up today! Pity it's not summer but never mind.

The front has been protected with Xpel Ultimate paint protection film from Paintshield (www.paintshield.co.uk). Would thoroughly recommend them. It's quite difficult to actually see where the film has been applied!

Also, Porsche Silverstone were superb, particularly Craig!

Some at the dealership, some when it arrived safely at home.

Beautiful, absolutely stunning. Best garage I have ever seen ;-)

The car is nice too :-)

Be careful with your choice of wax or sealant - some will yellow your protective film.
Thanks for the advice. Paintshield mentioned this to me and sold me a special wax to use on the film protected parts which won't yellow the film.

Congrats. That looks lovely. Is that a Riviera blue GT3 in the back ground?
Thanks. Not too sure TBH I didn't notice it until you pointed it out in the photo!

lovely car and garage! how much did the paintshield cost? did the OPC arrange it?
Arranged with Ann at Paintshield who then liaised with the dealership. They also offer the option to pick the car up from the dealership (or your house) in a covered trailer and then return. Never having seen it before, we went up to their unit in Peterborough to see examples of their work. Ann also did a demonstration where she attacked an example body panel which had the Xpel film ( http://www.paintshield.co.uk/ultimate-paint-protec... ) with a wire brush. After pouring warm water on it the marks just disappeared!

Full frontal kit (wings, bonnet, bumper, wing mirrors) was £1300 + VAT. I can see why some people would actually have the whole car done to be honest.

Ceramics on a Boxster, that's rare!!
I specced a Boxster with ceramics a couple of years ago, I'd be interested to hear your thought process leading up to the ticking of that particular box. .
Thought process = cleaner wheels

Nice. I'm having mine fully xpel filmed at Paintshield. Should be around the 15th when the car arrives, waiting for a definite date tomorrow or Friday from the OPC.

Any further thoughts on the film please?
Obviously time will tell with how durable it is, but going from what other people have said on this and other forums then it should be good. The quality of the install is what impressed me most. It's always going to be a nervous moment when you're having something done to your brand new car, but I really couldn't fault it. And I do, unfortunately, have a real OCD thing and notice every mark on a car.

I also have a Mercedes E350 which is only just a year old now. That has loads of stone chips and it's only done 6000 miles now. If I could go back in time and get that protected I would!

Cheers, Jon

I also have an e92 m3 which I wish I had had done. Has stone chips and whilst from 5 feet it still looks like new, I know they're there and it does my noggin in. If the Porsche fitting goes well I think I'll be taking the m3 to KDS and then Paintshield in the spring when I get paid.

I'm having the porsche detailed at Paintshield before they fit the film. Not sure who by yet, they recommended a couple.
Are you getting the whole car protected or just the front? I had my car swissvax'd at the dealership before the film was fitted.

KDS look good I've just had a look at their site. I'll probably leave the Merc another year or so and then get it done.

doesn't the film yellow over time? especially noticeable on a white car ...
Hopefully not with the Xpel film. They give it a 4 year warranty against peeling, yellowing, failure, etc. Apparently in the US installers warranty it for 10 years.

Fingers crossed!

Drove back from Stuttgart last week then went along to collect it on Thursday from Silverstone once it had been fitted with UK plates etc. Brilliant customer service from Robin, Craig and the guys at Silverstone. Car not too bad either!

That looks beautiful! Would love to have done the factory collection.

Cervezaman,

Rather off topic, but I like the tiles on your garage floor - would you mind telling me where you got them from please?

Nice car btw!
Might be a little too far to go:- http://www.fajovionline.com/contacto

Based south of Alicante in Spain. It was from their 'lower' cost range. They were installed around 4 years ago, none have cracked or chipped even with cars being parked on them. Might be worth looking in Topps Tiles or somewhere like that in the UK.
