Porsche replacement key

Just wondering if anyone here has links to a Porsche parts department. My closest dealer is 100 miles away and they say I have to bring the car to them to get they key coded. With my Bmw it was coded and I just collected it ready to go.

Wondering if they are just talking bs or if there is an actual reason I need to go in. They obviously arent going to manage to upsell me a new car while there.

Car is a 2000 boxster s, can email v5 copy as proof etc. Just dont fancy the 2 hour drive to collect a key.

Thanks for the replies, price isnt really the issue as they quoted me only £220 for key + coding. Guess its one of those things where it does have to be plugged in.
