Is that down to DFI? A friend with an Audi RS4 had similar probs.

One of my 997's went in for a service and the lovely OPC handed me a 'health check' quote for nearly £3k's worth of replacement parts due to corrosion.
I declined their kind offer.....had it inspected at an Indy and they advised it was probably 3 years off needing anything replacing as it was nowhere near as bad as the OPC had suggested.
Mine was a late 2011 car, 32k miles, the inspection was in May 2018 and under OPC Warranty to give you an idea on timescale. None of it was deemed to be included under the warranty...
A friend had exactly the same experience, but corrosion was worse, same age car with similar milage, had the works carried out at GCR for 1/3 of the cost OPC quoted.

I have a 3.6 gen1 (2007) 52K & am a bit wary about pouring money into the car, although she runs like a dream... no tapping noises etc. I first bought the car almost 5 years ago and at the time thought it would be a ‘keeper’ as I’m over 60 now and looking towards retirement so less income... but there’s always in the back of my mind the possibility of the ‘Hartech’ £12000 rebuild. So not sure whether to sell & spend another £20K on top & get a gen2 or stick with my car & hope it doesn’t come to a rebuild.
