I wonder what the order books are for the new car.!

When one looks back to the demand for the 996 GT3 Mk1, back in 1999/2000.. I seem to remember the car magazines in ecstacy over the new arrival of the MK1. Reason being that the previous incarnation of track biased 911 (993 RS/R), was built in so few numbers, and was mega bucks.!
Hence the Mk1 was built in low volume numbers and were sold out from day 1, and secondhand residuals were v.high.

The Mk2 arrival in 03, again was received with much hype, but now the marketing men at Porsche were ready to supply big time.. No question the Mk2 is the better car .. but huge demand was met with huge supply (relatively for a very focused car). This caused initial high residuals, but as we now can see.. residuals have plummeted.!!

RS arrives late 03.. again big hype, limited demand.. limited supply. This I am pleased about, currently owning one. Hard to guage RS residuals, until the 997 GT3 is priced and driven.

So we await the 997 GT3..
Now that people can read through the lines.. and know how the car will be marketed, RS to follow.. will the punters be gullible enough to snap it up, and encourage the Porker marketing boys to oversupply..!! ?

The UK GT3 market is currently so over-saturated, that are there enough people willing to pay £85k for a car that is going to be marginally quicker than a tweaked Mk2 or RS..??

Would you sell your tweaked Mk2 for £50k to pay another £35k for similar or slightly better performance..

Time will tell

IMO

You looking for your next car already Rob?

Still enjoying your old CSL - how are the RS and the Sag running?

Hi mate

Glad you're enjoying the CSL, car was setup quite nicely, when I sold it.
RS is running well, Sag is up for SOR, at Racing Green.
Both cars are too similar in attitude, but I prefer the 911.

Cheers
Rob
