Supercharged 928 - Need advice
Discussion
Just got myself a supercharged 928S2 Man Strosek.Head gaskets needed replacing day 2 of ownership.Done by Paul Anderson in Stroud (£1300).Car now drives very well but is spewing its oil out through a filter on top of the oil filler.I think there use to be a breather or return tube where the filter is now positioned. The tube was removed as part of the Supercharger install (don't know why though). My questions are 1)Why is it blowing oil out through the breather filter? and 2)Does anyone know of a 928 skilled mechanic in Essex? Any help would be greatly appreciated please. Colin
Many thanks Cheburator and Rubystone.Just as an up date; I fitted a half inch tube to the breather outlet and held it aloft.Oil vapour came out at a steady rate (not pulsing as it might if I had a dodgy piston ring).I can now see that it is a mist vapour as opposed to liquid oil pouring out.Obviously, when I had placed the end into an open container the vapour condensed back to liquid. This is why I initialy thought I had neat oil coming through the breather.I'm looking at fitting a catch tank with a return to the sump and breather to inlet tract.I will look at site you recommended. Many thanks - Colin
