111 check revealed a 'slight sweat' on the RMS.

Now, is there a warning light to let me know when i should top up as it has 'sweat' too much?

I do appreciate that, but unlike a fat bird, it would be hard to tell when the sweat turns into a pour, so just wondered if there was a warning light?

(Its parked on a road, and im pretty sure i would forget to move the car to check if it has leaked at all)

Inspection said it has a sweat, and the Warranty has been issued by porsche

Should i get them to confirm in writing the RMS is covered despite the sweat?

Just spoke to someone and they said as its noted in the report, it wont be covered in the warranty until its fixed, for £1000 or thereabouts.

Its a sweat at the moment, which will not be noticeable, but got the 'it will only get worse' comment.

Can someone answer whether the majority of 996s have an RMS leak of somesort, and only some go belly up, or that few have an RMS issue, but the ones that do, do go belly up?

The guy mentioned that they will have seen some oil in the gearbox if it was weeping. A weep, apparently, is worse than a sweat.

And yes, i did ask the guy if all 996s have a sweat, and commented that it would be handy as then they would never have to warrant an RMS.

He didnt answer

It had a 48k service 4 months ago, and has only done 3k miles since, and is a tip... so anyone know when my clutch will go next!?

If it's a tip, it doesn't have a clutch does it? Wouldn't worry about the sweat, just keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn't get worse.

Er.... thats a good point. I honestly have no idea...

True... i think it will be worth me going into a different OPC once delivery is taken, and asking to see what is and is not covered 'for my own piece of mind'

Unfortunately it may be - its not on the 111, but it is on the invoice - Not sure what they keep on record but im sure they would keep this on file!

If it gets worse, will take it to an indie and pay the 111 again - probably still cheaper!

Have a feeling they re-do the whole 111 if you need a warrantable item fixed. They need to make money somehow..

Oh, they also appear not to have done the road test - theres no ticks on the boxes. 92 point check for the price of 111 - bargain!

Yawn...?

Vesuvius - the point is they are saying it is not covered - this is not one of the usual 'what is RMS' chat, just me trying to find out how to keep on top of it

Im less worried about it now to be honest - if it costs me a few hundred to get it covered, then maybe thats a small price for peace of mind
