996 tt engines. and a gt3 question.
Discussion
My neighbour and friend is just about to buy another 911.
He was thinking about a 996 turbo on the basis that it would be stronger for trackdays than a carrera.
ie. he was assuming that its engine was derived from the gt1 engine as with the GT3. Now I am pretty sure that its only the gt3 (perhaps the gt2 too) that has the derivative, and not the turbo.
Am I wrong..???.could easily be...but I just want to make sure his info is right before blowing the green.
He was looking to spend 70-80k on a red or yellow mint turbo with shitloads of options.(pretty rare as everyone seems to like boring colours nowadays)
I am trying to convince him to get a new GT3, but he is worried about he ride stiffness, (even with the new pasm adjustability)
but of course getting a test drive will be a bloody joke.
Also, if he was to get a gt3, what sort of wait is there if placing a deposit now??
