Having ordered my 997 C4S, I found myself tempted by the sight of a GT silver 997 TT yesterday - surely the devil's work. Got me wondering: have many of you buyers of new highly specced Carreras been tempted to stump up the extra to get a TT? How many have opted to stay with the Carrera?

The TT has been my dream car for years, but I was seriously impressed with the Carrera S and 4S - enough to buy one (C4s). Something, other than the extra 20k, is holding me back from buying the TT as my first porsche. Anyone else been through this?

Guys, thanks for all responses. I actually value all of the feedback. The different points made are all ones that have been buzzing round my head: C2S or C4S - is it worth paying the premium? If so, why? If C4S, then why not 997TT? And why not save ££ & buy the 996TT which is a stonker of a car? I didn't feel any difference in the steering feel on a back to back drive of C4S & C2S on a combo of bumpy lanes & dual c/way, & the C4S does not feel like the 996 C4S at all. But, the C2S feels so surefooted that I was left wondering whether to bother stumping up the extra for the C4S. In the end, my choice of C4S came down to: flared rear end, possible usefulness of AWD (with the kids aboard), unobtrusiveness of AWD, steering feel (compared to 997C2S) & the (controversial) "fact" that the C4S will actually take you from point to point faster than a C2S in all driving conditions As for TT, I get the impression that, tho it's a beast on steroids in terms of performance, it's a bit muted in terms of sound whereas the carrera sounds grrrreat (esp. with PSE). So I should see whether the sound, after a year or so, leaves me wanting more blistering performance; then I'll yet again risk a divorce for the sake of an "investment" the size of a semi-detached house, in 997 TT. For now, I just can't wait to get my greasy palms on my new 911! Razor.

I agree that the new Turbo sounds disappointing, but I'm sure that the power makes up for it!

Yeah, it's the power that's got me mesmerized by the car - I re-watched the Jason Plato drive of the car last night: he couldn't contain himself, describing (almost with tears in his eyes) as "phenomenal" at least twice.

One other thing that's going thru my mind is that I'd have to wait 1 year for a new TT. I just can't wait that long to get in a 911!
