Porsche newbie info on 944 and 968 please

Can anyone give me a bit a low down on the specs (engine and performance) for the 968 and 968 CS ? I'm having trouble getting hold of this info. Being an ex-TVR man I fancied a bit of a change but don't know the model ranges too well. I thought they were all 911's and Boxsters . I was looking at a late model 944 but is seems for not much more - or if I'm prepared to go for a left hooker, almost the same price. I can get a 968. How do they compare ? I assume the 968 is a much more modern car altogether but I'm a bit worried about the fact that you can get 968's for less that some older 944's. Does this mean the 968 was a bit of a lemon as Porches go or are these 944's just overpriced ?

Thanks for the info guys. I have read the 944 buyers guide. It was the 968 that I was a bit lacking on. One more question:

Are the sport and the club sport one in the same ?

I've seen them advertised under both headings.
