The Rears on my 996 are looking a bit, low on the edges, but with tons of tread left in the middle (good 4-5m)

on the outside (last half inch or so) they are down to maybe .5-1mm

Now, is this standard? ie less tread on the outsides where it becomes sidewall, or has my 'TVR Sideways' style resulted in premature wear?

anyone know the official word on tread, iirc it was only the middle 70% of the tyre that was needing to be > 1.5mm

I dont mind getting her a new pair of boots, just dont obviosuly want to spend where I dont have to.

I have no problems with grip, wet or dry.. she does spin a little more on full pelt from jcts now in wet.. but probably just adapted my driving to suit her now.

thnx.

Update

checked tyres today.. and 30f 34r

might be why.. also had a dodgy valve on read offside.

soon as i took off the cap, air pissed out:|

getting new shoes and valves for the rear now, not worth the hassle not to.

I am thinking less geom now, given the pressures the tires were at (1 bar down on the rears, and the one tyre thats properly low, had a dodgy valve)

SO, new boots i think will do the trick, but she is going back to dealer next week for a few niggles (squeaky window seals) so will get him to sort out a check anyway.

£190 inc x2 for new 18" 265x35s

not bad i spose.
