cold engine noise on 944S2

Any ideas ?
When I start my S2 from cold there is a tappet sound but as the engine warms it disappears.
It has only started as the weather has got colder.
Ideas welcome.

In reply to thhom, the cars done 140,000 miles. It has a full service history from new with regular oil changes. In fact it's just had a service.
