Modifying an '89 Carrera 3.2

I've got a very pretty Carrera 3.2 and I would ike to increase the performance but not in an obvious way. I have fitted a K&N filter and propose next to chip it. Can anyone give me advice on the success (or lack of) chip tuning one of these cars. After chipping I propose to finish off with a new performance exhaust. Something not too noisy but a good performance gain. Again, any advice appreciated.

Put the exhaust on BEFORE you chip it. Otherwise you are unlikely to see gains - may even see a loss of performance.
