Traction Control
Discussion
Hello folks
This is my fisrt post on the forum, although I have been visiting and reading regularly for a year or so.
My question is: as a novice TVR driver and still somewhat intimidated by the awesome power on tap, is there an after market traction control system available and suitable for the Tuscan? If so can anybody advise where it can be obtained, how effective it is, how much it costs etc...
Many thanks

Did this on a Griff with launch control and full throttle shift. The Racelogic kit needs setting up properly but when working was awesome, and for pursists 'yes' you can switch it off or adjust the angle of attack to the road!
Mine was fitted by Scole Engineering 01379 740940.
Mail me for more details

This may not be the answer you were looking for - but how about getting a car and then taking a day of high performance instruction with Ride Drive? They do a great one day TVR handling course where you take your car onto a runway and have the opportunity to get to know the car's awesome performance and handling away from anyone else. From this you can judge both your limits and the cars - get some practice on fast road driving with a skilled police office sitting next to you. You stand to learn alot - a skill for life, such as how to use the overtaking peformance. Traction control in itself on a Tuscan is quite a financial investment, needs some special setting up PLUS you may have to notify your insurance company of the modification. Not saying don't do it - more weigh up the value of that investment against the kind of training that only a very small handful of people get.

Both would be even better

have a race logic system fitted to my tuscan,it was on there when i bought it however
when looking at engine re build sheet it has written on it do not use traction control as this has caused engine to fail. just my two peneths worth have no idea if this is fact or not.
Is your car blue? I looked at one locally before I purchased the one I have. The owner had it fitted with traction control after the owners wife had written off their first Tuscan. when looking at engine re build sheet it has written on it do not use traction control as this has caused engine to fail. just my two peneths worth have no idea if this is fact or not.
I remember I never got to drive the car as he had to put the car into the garage (Ciceley in Preston) due to engine problems the day before I had arranged to test drive. He never got back in touch with me!
Hi, I have a racelogic T/C system fitted by SP on my Tuscan. It is not a cheap upgrade but I it does offer some security and peace of mind in wet conditions. The thing is that I never deliberately drive it in the wet and as the car handles so well in dry conditions I have never really noticed the T/C kick in. Launch control is fun but repeated use will soon burn out the clutch.
By the way if you view the SP website the racelogic T/C control unit pictured is the one that is fitted in my car.

yep I have it, not sure why it would damage the engine as all it does is cut the supply to injectors to reduce power !! top bit of kit
Cutting the injectors could make it run lean and increase the chances of det, increased temps. To much det or heat will shag an engine pretty quickly. This is the best traction control device your ever get, taken thousands of years to perfect
IMO Don’t waste your time with traction control devises, especially if has been said it can damage your engine.
The Tuscan has a very user friendly throttle pedal, lovely long travel, and the engine is super progressive in its delivery.
Good idea to go have a play somewhere safe and get used to it off of public roads, light up the wheels, feel it wagging its arse, slide it about, even spin it, this is the best education you can get.
TVR’s have this, IMO unfounded reputation of being scary, yes, sure, if your an animal with it, and don’t respect it, yes, you will disappear off the road, but, drive it sensibly, do not over do your own limits and your be fine.
All driving aids in a car like this take the fun out, them sort of things are best left to ”normal” cars, enjoy

I'm also having Stve heath fit TC to mine, alongside some driver training later on this year.
Don't let anyone else tell you what you want or don't want on your car. Maybe you're god's gift to driving, maybe you're not. Maybe you'll get there, but at least you'll have a bit, a little bit, of a safety net on the way.
And there's always the off switch.
