Simon, just checked the PH calendar. We have 5 (including you) going to Bruntingthope on 14th July, and 6 (including me) going to Keevil.

Any chance we might end up at the same place?

You are very much counted! More news and update from me just as soon as I can get some time in front of this PC to actually type it in to an e-mail to all of you that have expressed an interest!

Thanks

Does anyone know a good insurance company that will provide trackday cover. My policy with Mannings covers anything organised by TVRCC or TVR, or any day where you are with an instructor full time, but does not cover independent track days. I was given the number of one company, Edgar something or other, but they want £285 for the day with a £3000XS for £20K cover on a Tuscan S. You can cover the car to its full value, but obviously for a higher premium. I spoke to A1 today, but they have withdrawn all trackday cover until further notice, and Sunninghill were considerably more expensive than Mannings for the annual policy (plus they won't insure me until the end of June as my Cerbera was stolen in June 2000, and they won't insure new policies with an incident in the past 3 years).

There are a couple of companies who advertise on circuitdriver.com but to be honest I don't think you will need it. I too am with mannings and would not venture out onto a proper circuit with armco and tyrewalls etc without cover, but an airfield is a whole different ballgame. Firstly they are wide with big run off areas, mostly edged with grass, secondly as the day is tuscans only there won't be any nutters with cheap cars who get a little over competitive on track, nor will there be any extraordinarily quick single seaters that appear in your rear view mirror all of a sudden. Therefore I think it will be about as safe as a track day gets.

Anyway, my place is booked, see you all there!

Whithout wanting to sound like a kill joy, don't forget that on an air field you still have other cars around you, if someone loses it they can still spin or slide in to you (or you in to them)

Also, if you go off the runway and on to the grass, it is possible for the wheels to dig in causing a roll - unlikely but still a possibility

What I am saying is this is insurance, you are paying a premium to cover a risk, there is no such thing as NO risk so oyu have to decide for yourself if you think the premium gives you enough peace of mind against the cost, then decide from there.

Remember, you don't necessarily need £20k of cover, if you need a new wing say, it will be more like £10k, maybe you can get a better premium by reducing the amount of cover?

But having said all that I would say an air field is a very low risk of damage, and personally I would probably not bother with cover - but it is very much a personal thing

There - does that cover all the options?

Graham I think it would cover all the options if we saw you on this particular Airfield, then you could tell us all about it !!

I haven't booked up yet as I am 'between jobs' at the moment and so don't have much cash to spare

Maybe if you all had a whip round and paid for my place? No? Sure? Oh well, worth a try

"...one room left"

My car survived Le Mans (even though I lost my keys !!!) so I've booked up Keevil on the 14th and the New-Inn on the 13th. Looks like this is going to be a big'un with 40 Tuscan's tearing around the track. Don't hang about as the places are being snapped up.

Cheers,

Andy.

P.S. does a T440 still count as a Tuscan ? Just curious......

The T440R technically doesn't count as a Tuscan. That's why they changed the name. To differentiate the two models further.

When are you getting yours?
