My September 2000 one was.It was OK on most UK A roads, but B roads would leave somthing to be desired. On the roads in Belgium it was not very happy at all, then I changed to the Nitron suspension & it is much better, riding the bumps very well and staying on line much better.

Cost of the Nitrons Nick? They are adjustable aren't they? Have tried adjustable Konis on a previous car which weren't bad.

Car is under warranty, so it would be useful to know if all standard cars are rock solid like this. I don't think I can drive it on our roads without changing something.

Thanks,
Gary.

What is standard fitment on the Tuscan S? Can I assume that junking the standard for Nitrons would invalidate the TVR warranty?

Warranty should not be affected by changing springs/dampers I wouldn't have thought - consumable items?

Nobody except Nick has replied to say that all Tuscans have rock solid suspension which does not cope well with bumps. Do they?

Mine is fine with bumps. I'm not saying it's Jag smooth, and you can get bounced around a bit if you're tanking down a badly maintained B road, but the car drives straight and "feels" like there is compliancy. I have heard it is not unusual for the standard shocks to leak so it's worth at least getting them checked.

Cheers,

Andy.

The standard suspension on my September 2000 car was not leaking, the reason for change is that the springs were too soft & the dampers did not damp very well so it did not inspire much confidence on poor road surfaces.Later models did have different dampers & springs although to change them would have been nearly as much as the Nitrons and they would not have the adjustable damping.

For your info, my Std Tusk built April 2001 the set is as follows:-

The front springs are D0117 and green (the number is painted on the spring) and the rears are D0368 and should be white

For info the current Tuscan S parts are C0940 front dampers and D0875 rear dampers, the springs and bars are the same. You would also need to fit 8 off C0092 damper bushes if you changed to TVR supplied S dampers

Having said all of this I think i am happy with my current set up

And mine were all black springs!

Thought I saw a yellow spring lurking at the rear on mine last night (2002), but can't be sure till I check in the light.

I'll get them checked for leaks/condition, but there is no doubt in my mind that something needs doing to give the car a bit more composure over the bumps.

Before I ask for recommendations on replacements I'll have a read of the previous replies in this thread as I recall Nitrons getting a mention quite a bit in here and adjustable Leda jobs as well...
