Tuscan Driving Skills Day - Interested ?
Discussion
Peter_Belcher said: Whilst I am thinking about it... My insurance is with Tesco who obviously do not cover track days. I am sure they would view this event as a track day although no racing will take place, for me anyway!
To this end, does anyone know a company that will insure a one off track day for reasonable money? Don't mind stumping up a larger deposit as long as I get it back when I don't bump anything, hopefully!
Hope this makes sense and what is everyones opinion?

Try www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk - they will certainly cover you for this.
Personally, I don't take the insurance, the opportunity to hit another car is very remote seeing as everybody will be very much encouraged to keep well apart for the following reasons:-
1) Disrupting the leading drivers concentration on his/her line thru the circuit
2) Possibility of stone chips if you're too close
3) Accidental damage (which nobody wants thank you!)
Yes, strictly speaking this is an Airfield day, and you will not learn anything until you push yourself and the car - but it's a testosterone free zone as well (ok maybe just a little and probably an ml of oestrogen if the girls turn up, as you power out of the chicane), but it's meant to be a ladies and Gentleman's learing experience. Just you wait once the swearing starts!!!
As to stone chips, I was at Brunters on Sunday 9th see www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=31648&f=13&h=0
and the track was very good - clean. The long straight was dirty (small stones) but you have to have a least one run don't you !!

Mee Too - have done a day with Don Palmer - he is very good - how does he stay so calm - we went to MIRA -= 160 mph on the banked circle, and sliding up - Don says -" this gets interesting - no more gas, no brakes please, dont move yer foot, but lift your middle toe to touch the leather of yer boot -"
worked a treat, gently descend the track!! Top Bloke!!

Yeah, I am in for sure. Know another Tus who might attend too, will let you know.
By the way, a small point but when I was last up at bruntingthorpe I tried every garage in the village for super plus with no success. Apparently the nearest petrol station to the track has recently stopped selling it! Makes sense to me??????
Point being that the best place to fill up if coming from the south is the Shell service station on the M1. Costs a few pence more than normal, but they do sell Dom Perignon for Tuscans (Optimax)!

Definatly interested in this. Had my Tuscan for nearly a year now, awesome, but I know I'm not driving it properly and want to learn. Often thought of a track day, but scared sh*tless about doing any unplanned changes to the bodywork and damaging "my baby" !!. Under no illusions that I am the quickest driver in the world, and will be first to put my hand up for the novices section of this event, I just want to learn how to drive a bit quicker & be more in control when I go round corners and things start getting a bit scarey, and gain more confidence !.

When do you need confirmations and money?
Thanks Sally and well done for big-ing it for the girls! As soon as we've got a slightly better number of cars/owners i'll hand over to Ed Moore and Natasha at Motorsport Events, i'll stay well in the fore front to help iron out any probs or questions though
