Suggest people get the facts right before posting on here.
Would you care to enlighten us then? I always find it odd that whenever these LS conversion threads have come up over the years, the answer as to actually how much one should budget is always skirted around and avoided.
If a 30k drive-in/drive-out budget is not accurate, then what is? It's not a difficult question to answer or something that benefits from being kept secret.
When I was deciding on engine options, for the LS3 I was quoted "around 15k + vat, includes engine, box, ECU etc, service cost £50 per year no tappet service, no slave seal and finger failure.
All parts that fail in straight six driveline replaced with parts that don't and as a bonus 30mpg possible."

25-30K seems to be reasonable until anything is done and small stuff can ad up. also don´t get the point of putting I always find it odd that whenever these LS conversion threads have come up over the years, the answer as to actually how much one should budget is always skirted around and avoided.

a standard LS1 LS3 LS7 or whatsoever in. for sure LS nice to have but not bog standard if spending that sum of cash. different cam and intake will change how that beast goes and how that beast sounds. still i am confused about the high
price tag of those conversions. .......

It's a peculiar one I can't think of any other sports car marque where you'd take the engine out and stick something else in. You get it on mx5, and rx7's but they weren't worth much in the first place, and of course on old 60's "funny" type cars.
But apart from that I Can't think of any other examples at the moment.

If you read carefully I say sports cars. You don't get this in the Porsche or Ferrari world.
Youve got a list there of Luke warm hum drum cars. The golf and the 3 series though your taking a better BMW engine and sticking it in a BMW... Same with golf 1.8t and vr6 conversions.. Done 205 mi16 conversion myself and vr6 turbo.
Likewise with the escort. Hence my comment. And the donor cars in general weren't dynamically better. They were heavier. In this case the z06 is a better car...

So like I said not common place in Porsche, Ferrari, circles. And lotus is a bad example as they always used someone else's power from the start.
Think of a car which had super car performance of its era, and it's own manufacturers power plant that people swap the engine out. I can't.

Nothing to hide mate, but you can do what lots of people do and pick up the phone and make inquiries with the relevant suppliers.
20k-25k Depends on extras and what gearbox you want.
Hope this helps.
So 20-25k for the engine conversion piece. Easily climbs to 30k when you factor in a bit of upselling and the inevitable "whilst you're there" type jobs of which there are always plenty.20k-25k Depends on extras and what gearbox you want.

So as I said, easily 30k out the door (so incl. VAT) for a pukka job and a few other inevitable nice to have's.
Yes, you're off to a false start if you're thinking that an LS conversion is a money saver over a Speed Six rebuild/upgrade.
An LS conversion is good if you want a lot more power reliably and low ongoing operating costs. Although that last point is an oxymoron given the substantial extra up front cost.
The whole originality thing is a different discussion but a lot more relevant now than it was. Especially as new TVR will be using Ford power. So apart from the odd prototype dalliance, there is even less factory connection past or present with Chevy power.

A lot more power? Is that only on a dyno run or would the extra power be visible on track or road when being put down with no traction control and are the extra horses well harnessed?
A 100k warranty on a S6 Power rebuild at an insured 5k miles a year that's 20yrs worth of peace of mind engine side?

if you want to drive eco friendly get a prius if you want to have inner city fun get a modded smart. if you want to go fast on the autobahn get a decent bmw or merc. all the rest is fun stuff. so if somebody needs the piece of mind with an ls go for it. proven unit can be tuned easy at decent price. if you want to have the same power with a speedsix as you can have with a decent ls you save maybe some quid in the first place but you spent more afterwards. there is no speedsix with 600 horses out there and any sort of warranty. neither is there any ls but if i would have to chose going ls or speedsix if i wanted 600 horses.... going ls with e.g. tko is a no brainer. key in ignition start no worries. costly but powerwise not beatable.

Yes, a lot more power over what an S6 can realistically do. The practicalities and usability of such is a different question though. Maybe you should ask the Tuscan Racer guys the same question, see what they say about what's faster. Thanks for your interest Sonic.
My last visit to TC was a week before xmas and this was the progress.
Engine and gearbox are in and bespoke exhaust made and fitted.
Propshaft away for shortening and rebalance also Dash away for re calibration.
Hope to pop down to TC this week for an update but so far all going as planned (touch wood)
