WINDOW PROBLEMS
Discussion
Hi guys, is there a product that can stop water getting in the windows on the doors ? The design is so stupid then u think about it as water comes gushing in and get the carpet horribly wet and so rotting my nice pine floor!
Somone must have the answer, ive asked seg and Mark thought id get any other ideas ?
Its not even funny i have to throw a Argos silver car sheet over it everytime it rains, i had to run out the other night in just my boxer shorts and trainers while being heckled at by 2 woman asking if i wanted a hand, somebody help a fellow member pllllllllllease

not a whole lot I can think of, though one of my earlier jeeps had a strip of aluminium with a brush like substace fitted to the front half which served as a seal of sorts, think it was a mini type thingy,
you could also drill the runners on the outside to allow water an easy escape.

Have you checked that there are adequate holes drilled in the runner rails the windows sit in and these go through the rubber as well as the aluminium and fibreglass.
Also have you got one or two holes drilled in the outside skin just above where the inner and outer panels are joined at the bottom so water in the door can escape.
It is also worth checking the mould hole on the underside of the inner skin is sealed otherwise you will always get every drop of water that goes in the door coming out into the cab so soaking the floor.

I'll second what techsec says.
When I got my doors there were holes in the bottom, placed to drop water on the top of the 'squiggly bits' as Jago call them and run down inside the car. Check these are sealed. I did all the above but some water still ran under the hardtop and inside the top of the door seal.
So I fitted some ally channel as a gutter on the hardtop above the door on mine. It took some time cutting away the hardtop and then filling with gel coat so I could stick the channel on with silicone rubber. This fixed it permanently.
If anyone is interested I can do some pics and post them.

you cannot compare a geep to a modern car - water will get in - make sure it can get out again
if you have carpet - rubbers a better option [ooer missus]
it will get wet
as 70s escorts and cortinas did
eventually you drill a hole so it runs out
water runs THROUGH doors on modernish cars
well classics then
just to add credance chimeras are usually wet too
and they usually cost slightly more than six hundered quid !!!
tvr smell just the same with damp dank yukky carpets as a jago does and you have to take seats out - undo glue on a tvr to unsmell it

Reminds me of my first jago, wind and rain whistling in, truly at one with nature...no wonder my wife was so 'happy' with my purchase. I went down the route of Argo's silver car cover, try putting one of those on in the wind...waste of money as they're so cheap and cheerful, buy the time you've patched the rips up, you may as well have bought a decent one min the first place!
After my first Jago experience I vowed never again, thats why I bought the one I have now without doors and hard/soft top.

"Manly RED Jago owners who run without doors"
Sounds a lot less girly............when did you last see a green geep without its doors on...MMMMMM

If you live in a valley like i do then doors and roof are a "must"
Not to mention if i was seen driving my geep in the rain with no doors or roof i would be heckled from here to harrogate and back.
There are holes in the doors so the water runs down, my cousin phoned and said he used to have perspex block that clipped on to his, im getting them dropped of this week so problem solved he he he.
Cheers guys for the help.
