I HAVE IT ON GOOD AUTHORITY THAT A 4.5 RECENTLY PEAKED AT 195 (INDICATED) ON THE M6!!!!!!NUTTER (after trading in his F355 coz it was to slow for him) Edited by cerby on Saturday 24th February 20:15

All these stories about cars doing 195mph or 200 mph are generally down to speedo inaccurace (unless you actually manage to pull 7,500 rpm in top). I've had a legitimate 190mph out of mine (2 up with luggage for a 2 week ski holiday and a few crates of beer) and so has a friend of mine (we were in convoy on the continent at the time). The car was remarkably stable at that speed, which was nice . James

V8 4.5 litre. Is there another possibility? James, a "Proper" Cerbie, and a Nomex suit.

Obviously my 190 mph run wasn't in this country. It was in "continental" driving. Never been over 180 over here (on a test track of course, it would be really silly to do that sort of speed down the A34, even if there was no traffic around) James

That's the trouble with the Sped 6 you see. Not only has it got the wrong engine, but that limo suspension coupled with tractor tyres makes it unstable at speed. Of course, the other option is that your suspension is knackered. James

Come on, I thought the Cerbie was fast! I've had an indicated 165 roof off in my 500 Chim, and nudging 175 roof on, twice - once with a passenger (poor sod). All on the continent, nowhere near the M6 obviously. Only problem is you need 3 lanes when you come off the power!!!!

Cerbies are fast - I've not maxed mine out in 5th (not found a straight long and legal enough and I've never been on an German autobahn) but I've maxed my Cerbie out in 4th gear with an indicated 155mph on the speedo (While blasting past a Chimp going flat in 5th....)

FourWheelDrift straights not long enough? Try going round the corners a bit faster. From my experience at track days thats something most Cerbie owners have a bit of trouble with!

maxed my Speed 6 at 7200k revs in 5th. should be approx 180 according to gearing, but then I guess the revcounter may be optimistic too. It got very tappety again 3rd time in 8k miles, fed up... sold it and some one had two engine rebuilds shortly after Sorry! But I do want a 4.5 still, I love the Cerbera... I need my head read.

NO! I examined its performance envelope as designed by TVR :-), { after very careful 'running in' and it was after 6k service, I may add.} I have to say, when it was on song it was fabulous.

From my experiance with GPS units (stuck to the window of a BMW on the way to go flying) the speedo was quite acurate up to about 80mph it then began to exagerate a bit 100mph on the speedo was 95mph 125 was 115, the faster the less reliable the reading, and thats german engineering! Not tried it in the Chimp though.
