Finished tidying up the interior leather. Complete scrub down and restoration with a furniture clinic kit on the seats, that now look like new rather than very worn
Just got to clean the carpets and put the front seats back in.
They look great. Just got to clean the carpets and put the front seats back in.
Did you have to prep the seats first?

YouTube says that vid is private. The first one looks amazing!
Picking it up tomorrow and will keep you all posted on how it stands up in the real world. My car doesn't live in a garage all the time and is driven hard, so will be interesting to see the reality vs the theory, but so far, from the pics only, I'm really pleased.
Should breathe a new lease of life into the beast for the summer...

So the drivers seat bolsters were worn, cracking on the seat cushion.
You start with an alcohol clean, then the leather prep, which strips the old colour/dirt off to give a decent base. I found non stick scouring pad were kinder and easier than the green scouring pad in the kit. Then use 1200 grit sandpaper to smooth anything off. Most/all of the cracks/damage is in the paint layer.
Then it's put the paint layers back on. Lots of layers
I bought a tiny compressor and airbrushes to help this rather than use the aerosol cans. Gone up a tenner since I bought it. Tiny but quiet.

Imagine painting the forth bridge. Lots of fine coats. Paint one seat, top up bottle, paint the other seat, wash out gun, repeat many times.
Then it's sealent (the paint dries rubbery/tacky which the sealant solves) then a finishing coat. I picked Satin.
Thats it. A full weekend to do the front seats, then a full day to do the rears. I masked up the whole rear of the car.
Now I've just got the fight of putting the seats back in. I'm trying to use 10mm smaller bolts as they were too long, but I can see the advantage of longer bolts...

Looks a really interesting product. What do they mean by pealable to remove, literally grab a corner and peal off? I guess it have to be removed if you want a normal paint job?Should breathe a new lease of life into the beast for the summer...
They do a hard wearing clearcoat bra apparently for years of wear, might be handy for the front chips area?

It is essentially a liquid "wrap", that can be removed like a vinyl wrap if you wanted to change the colour or use traditional paint. They do a hard wearing clearcoat bra apparently for years of wear, might be handy for the front chips area?
Yes, my father in law has his new Ferrari booked in for next week for a complete protective clear coat to protect against stonechips and scratches. The guys that did mine also did 1 of 5 brand new Nissan NSX's in the same protective cover.
Don't talk to me about weight. I bolted the seats back in last night. So much fiddling trying not to get them dirty/damaged
When I took the out the had longer bolts in that I thought necessary so I bought some new stainless ones, washers, bolts etc, 5mm and 10mm shorter plus the same size.

^^^ That's made a huge difference to the seats!
I decided that the salt had all been washed away after lots of rain over the last week or so, so taxed mine and went for a drive! It was
bloody good fun too after 4 and a bit months of waiting
Car is starting much better, especially when hot with the new battery fitted.
